hey wasalam! congratulations!! what type of job is he looking for? retail, hospital, etc? i dont think you should panic yet, taking the boards and getting licensed takes a few months usually. and most retail places will be happy to hire graduate interns in the meantime (and most will offer you a store when you do become licensed).

i think flushing is ok. i grew up in elmhurst and jackson heights so i'm used to being around tons of trains and now i have to rely on these stupid buses that are late and out of service more often than not! but i guess the neighborhood is very suburban, very safe and quiet, not a lot of ppl in my immediate vicinity and parking is easy to find in my neighborhood. we're looking in flushing as a last resort, but forest hills, queens village, fresh meadows, that whole area. yeah i know what you mean, queens is quickly becoming one of those places that you have to think twice before you raise a family in. but yeah the diversity in queens is awesome, esp from an eating-out-often point of view! :)

As'salaam Wa'alikum, i was in madrassah, but what htey tought us, i know a lot of girls did from home with their mothers or friends who knew urdu, or local masjid urdu speaking teachers and Walah! they were doing urdu writing and reading. We used baby books of urdu, like, a book called " Allah kai rasool"..it had basic urdu words, that were written in very big and clear urud, to you know what each letter was..and they emphasis the differnt 'ya's. and 'ha's' so you know how to figure what to use and when to use it,...if you get those baby stories of allah kai rasool, and hazrat abu bakar, Ali, Bibi Aisha, Khadeeja from Madiniyah's website and write each line from the story onto paper,

it will help you start writing urdu, b/c you will have written ou th eletters and worsd so much you get used to them adn start understanding what to use and when, and it's very importent you have you mom ( if she is goign to be your teacher to check you work, and read out to you adn write what she i ssaying to practise what you have learned)..that comes some time later on, but in the beginng she can say some words adn you try to spellthem out in urdu, like a urdu spelling test.

aww yeah I know. I am NOT looking forward to that. Maybe i'll go into the business side of pharmacy so I can have a desk job hah. I don't plan on working full time anyways. Once I have a family I plan on staying home iA... maybe you should try looking online for jobs for your husband where he can work from home. I hear that's the new thing in pharmacy. He can review and check scripts from his computer at home or however it will be set up. If I hear anything about it at school again i'll let you know, iA.
