Here's the trailer for an upcoming show about an American family that accidently hosts a Pakistani Muslim student in a foreign student exchange program.

My review based on the trailer:
Anyone else feel embarrassed? It might just be me, but this looks loaded with Muslim stereotypes. Not to mention they didn't get somethings about Islam correctly (the Muslim student is attracted to the sister in the family, and stuff like that)

It might be funny, but who knows? I'll check it out.

I dunno, it looks pretty funny. I think it pokes more fun at Americans than it does at Muslims or Pakistanis. You can't expect them to get everything right can you? I think it's admirable that they would even try something like that, don't you?

Its funny hearing this from a guy who made a thread about having gay thoughts. But anyhow, white boy, foreignors particular ones from Asia have a fetish for white girls, regardless if they are a practicing Muslim or not. You also have to consider that the boy is in throes of teenhood, so his hormones are raging.

I also found it strange because as I watched the Pilot Episode, I couldn't help but notice the mother is disturbingly like my adoptive mom. She seems nice, but is very ignorant and meanspirited to those she doesn't like ("I'll tell you one thing. You're not becoming Muslim", "what were you doing praying on the floor with that boy", etc)

But I must say it's got good character development. At the end of the first episode, you know everyone and what they are like. The geeky high school boy, the popular teenage girl, the over-concerning mother, etc.

i saw the advert for this and thought, omg this is sooo terrible. then i watched the extended intro trailer thing and it looked promisingly hilarious. so inshallah i'll watch that link u have of the full ep if i get a chance. i'm optimistic. i still watched little mosque even tho that show was

so we shall see

I just watched the first episode, and I actually like it. It's adorable. But, is the sister that girl from Ned Declassified?

i agree, it IS adorable! i only wish that they could pronounce some of the vocab better, but hey at least they r actually using the proper names for things. crazy awesome! mentioning the shahada on a mainstream american tv show? too cool!

My question is, is it going to portray the Muslim character realistically or is it going to play up the stereotypes - not the terrorist stereotypes, but the "Muslims are funny because they're different from us" stereotypes - for laughs?
