This aired a few years back and was an interesting episode. I found the one about Americans living under the poverty line to be more interesting...

I can't download it... I doubt I'd agree with it. Islam has so many quirks and intracacies that it would take more than 30 days to learn the basics of Islamic practices. I could barely pray after 30 days because I still hadn't memorized proper salah. And what about Ramadan? Did he ever get to fast and pray taraweh during his 30 days? Or celebrate an eid? For this experiment to work, I think you'd have to immerse yourself in Islam for at least a year.

But yeah, he didn't do Ramadan or Eid, and Hajj would be way too difficult for him.

I loved 30 Days as a whole show, But honestly It was nerve wrecking when i first sat and watched it, back a year or 2 ago, forget when it first aired. DON'T get me wrong! It was very interesting, but It just felt awkward, mayb the reason being was that what if the people who are muslims in the show portray islam incorrectly to the person. Not trying to be anal or anything, but i was just getting that wierd ichy, word by word shaky feeling. Overall, i did watch it and I think it was pretty good.

Astagfirallah - they display a likeness of the Prophet.
Anyway, still watching it's pretty interesting. I commend the guy for his attachment to his own religious morals... but dammit, get down and pray already, why'd you sign up for this if you can't immerse yourself? Like he could just do what the Imam says and make it his own personal prayer. I'll report back when i'm done watching.

I saw this a couple of years ago - I thought it was interesting and informative, and very telling in the perceptions of Muslims and Islam which it exposed. I thought the whole series was pretty good actually, I remember the fast food one (Supersize Me?) made me want to
Great television.

morgan spurlock is great. he won the media award from MPAC (muslim political action committe) for this episode. I was watching his tv show '30 days' over the weekend. i saw two really good ones. one where he personally spends 30 days in a minimum security jail. and the other was about a guy who follows his outsourced job to bangalore India. I think morgan spurlock is like another micheal moore. I thought super size me was fantastic and it was a dam shame he didnt win an oscar for it for best documentary.

As for the other things he did, looking the part doesn't say much. It says "I'll look like a Muslim, but I'm not putting any effort into it." Most Muslims I met these days don't dress sunnah-like and many don't grow beards. I don't do either myself. It's nice of him to learn the experience of getting pulled over at the airport, which is another thing that's never happened to me. But again, not something relatable. Quote:

couldnt you take legal action against them if they fired you for praying? we still have freedom to practice religion in this country.
but as far as the airport thing, i have seen desis going to the airport dressed in shalwars and caps, while getting on to thier interntional flights. i mean come on, if your gonna dress like that in an airport what do you expect is going to happen? just for wearing a silver chain in the bombay airport, i got noticed by some guy stnading next to a cop and he says 'muslim' while motioning over towards me. |

That's illegal. Under the Civil Rights Act of 1968, every person is allowed to report for religious discrimination if the job fails to accomandate your religious beliefs. Therefore, Muslims are allowed to cover properly, perform salaat, go to Jummah, and grow a beard. If you're not allowed to do that on a job, that's religious discrimination and you could sue them down to China Town (I tried to rhyme right there)
