Re: The Wire
Is anybody watching the final season? This is one of the best shows in TV history. Definitely in my top 3 if not my favorite show ever

Re: The Wire
its mainly about the drug trade in Baltimore, but theres much more to the show than just stuff about cops fighting drug dealers. Its about institutions in American cities and their problems. Blue collar workers and unions, city politicians, the education system, the courts, the media, and federal/state bureaucracies are all explored, and the writers do an awesome job showing connections and relationships between all of these different parts of the city's machinery. There is no other tv drama that looks at issues with so much depth. It can easily be used in college courses on Urban America or in American Studies classes at foreign schools. The story lines are really interesting and there is a really broad set of characters including alot of very memorable ones. Its an amazing show

Re: The Wire
My mother can't praise this show enough. I personally have a seen an episode or two at her house a few years ago and liked what I saw. I don't own a television, so I can only see it when I go to visit her. I've missed so much of it, it's probably pretty pointless to watch now anyway.

BEST SHOW EVER!!!!! I COULDNT BELIEVE HOW OMAR WENT OUT!!!!
This show is amazing on so many levels, it blows my mind that it has no emmys under its belt. The quality of the dialog, the amazing storylines, not to mention the acting....

Apples and oranges. I love the shield, have the first and 3 seasons on DVD, but it doesnt hold a torch to the wire.
