L'Age d'Or
a weird 1930 movie banned for almost 50 years. i liked it. some of the special effects were impressive even by today's standards.

Awesome, awesome movie. So brutally realistic, and entertaining.
The Quiet - Very difficult movie to explain, but I enjoyed it. Anything with Camilla Belle AND Elisha Cuthbert is worth watching in my opinion.
The Dead Zone - Original 1983 movie with Christopher Walken. A slow burn, but totally creepy and tense. Why can't they make movies like this anymore? Director David Cronenburg is a national treasure.

Yeah I agree. Don't think it would suit all tastes, but I found it hilarious and insane at the same time.
Took my wife to see Mama Mia recently, loved it. Funny and beautifully sentimental at the same time. And the music of Abba was a definite plus. Meryl Streep was a complete revelation to me with her singing, but Pierce Brosnan should just stick to James Bond or something similar.  Apparently there's a sing along version of the movie out too!

Paranoid Park - Gus Van Zant's most recent movie, about a skater living in Portland who accidentally kills a security guard and has to deal with the moral dilemma while living a conflicted life in other aspects as well. Classic Van Zant, a slow burn but worth it. I enjoyed.
