Laaga Chunari Mein Daag - Journey of a woman

I expected this to be another stupid, over the top film coming out of Yash Raj, but I enjoyed the movie immensely!

Anupam and Jaya were alright, Abhishek didn't have much screen space so I guess he was okay. But Rani, Kunal, and Konkona's acting was superb!

The story was really good with minor flaws and the outcome was expected, but it still was a very good movie. I teared up

YouTube - The Story of Jinnah, the Founder of Pakistan - Final Part

Quote:
Jinnah: What's your name?
Little Girl: Zakiya
Jinnah: Where are you from?
Zakiya: Ferozpur (The once Muslim-Majority city that jinnah fought hard to get into pakistan, but lost, and later ethnically cleansed of muslims in the partition riots of 1947)
Jinnah: and where are you going?
Zakiya: To Pakistan!
Jinnah: Thats a brave girl, PAKISTAN WAS MADE FOR YOU, you are safe now
Zakiya: Aba jan maybe the old man knows where amma is?
Zakiya's Dad: Im sorry sir, we beg your forgivness for not recognizing you, but she is just a child, she recently lost her mother
Jinnah: It is I who should ask you for forgivness for any part i have had in what has happend to you
Zakiya's Dad: No sir, i bless you with all my heart, Allah blesses you
YouTube - The Story of Jinnah, the Founder of Pakistan - Part 7

Jinnah's daughter Dina announces her plan's to marry, neville wadia, a parsi...

Quote:
Jinnah: Dinah there are millions of young Muslim boys in India, you cant do this to me
Dinah Jinnah: There were millions of Muslim girls and you married mama, and she was a Parsi
Jinnah: Yes, but she became a Muslim, is mr. Wadia prepared to embrace our faith?
Dinah Jinnah: NO, but I will marry him
Jinnah: Dinah if you do this, you cannot call yourself my daughter anymore, I forbid it.
Dinah Jinnah: But why?
Jinnah: Because it is against OUR customs, it is against OUR traditions, I have fought for a Muslim state and my daughter marries outside the faith!.

I'm half-watching one of my favorite movies ever, Crash, and half doing homework. My dad's watching it, and I can see it from the corner of my eye.

Crash is one of my favourite movies. Beautiful.

In the horror genre, just watched 1408 recently. Based off a Stephen King story. I'd give it a thumbsup. Been a while since I watched a good horror movie.

Jinnah was so adamant about his daughter marrying a muslim boy that he disowned her when she married a parsi. His own wife was parsi but yeah sure she converted. Makes Jinnah sound like a very faithfull muslim...

...Then howcome we never see him practicing his faith. I don't see any examples in the history books. Show me one picture where he's shown saying his prayers. I'm not religious myself but I don't go around pretending to be either.

Let's face it, he disowned his daughter more due to an adherence to culture than faith. He was more secular than religious.

I agree she wasn't the greatest of actresses [I leave that to the French actresses such as Isabel Adjani, Emmanuel Beart] but she was so pretty and just epitomised the word elegance.
