I watched Sunshine. 50 years into the future, the Sun begins to die, and Earth is dying as a result. A team of astronauts are sent to revive the Sun - but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new team are sent to finish the mission as they are Earth's last hope.

The film was okay, but it is not for nitpickers or anyone with a shred of scientific knowledge. However the ending is good if you can get through the tiresome beginning and slow artsy farts feel they tried to put to the film. The overuse of stereotypes worried me. Where was the token black person? Perhaps they thought an Islander would do instead. You can see holes in the plot straight away, but the special effects are pretty good. All in all a totally unbelievable effort from someone trying to emulate the genius of Stanley Kubrick.

For all the film's silliness though, at least the title reminded me of John Denver's sunshine. Must put that in the terrific songs thread.

Skinwalker, the guy who survived the last ship, could exist in outer space, live for all that time and have those weird eyes seemed very unbelievable Having said that, a few days ago one of the papers had written about how global warming might be better now that the suns power was reducing then i thought of Sunshine

It is pretty cold in San Diego! I wanted to see sunshine when it came out but I didnt get the chance. I need to rent it. I love Danny Boyle's movies (even Millions, which is supposed to be more kid friendly) and the preview looked interesting enough.

Yep. Just because a film is scifi doesn't mean it has to be st00pid too. don't they realize that most sci fi fans understand the basic principles of science? The plot was just

Have you seen Solaris, the new version with George Clooney? Excellent movie in my opinion.

A Might Heart with Jolie. i haven't really made up my mind about it yet; but it was good. well played too.
my sister came home today with all three of The Godfather movies
we've never seen either of them, i watched part of the first.
i dunno what i think about that either.
i'll probably like it after watching all three. but goodness they're so long!

I saw Enchanted. It was too long, I think, but I loveeed her dresses. Her innocence was s cute and funny, reminds me of a friend mine...tho I think it would have been funnier had there been more moments with the realism/fantasy contrasts. I want to be nice like her! thinking so well of others ''I may have looked into the well too deeply'' when she was pushed, awww, I'm wondering now whether a life without cynicism and sarcasam would be a better one!

The older brother was the most interesting one out of them all. I need to watch it again to better understand him, but the brutality overall was just depressing. One of my sleeper faves that I have watched this year,

The Mist was good, reminded me of a scifi channel original (which is a good thing)

I am Legend kind of sucked, although some of the scenes in abandoned NYC were cool. Those sets were pretty creative
