Re: Movies Watched Recently
Die Hard 4... I've edited it out of my mind that it's in fact related to Die Hard's 1,2 and 3.
And Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was pretty good.

What are you talking about Die Hard 4 was awesome. It was funny, the special effects (or lack thereof) were amazing, the story wasn't completely ludicrous (as in Die Hard 3), and lets not forget Maggie Q.

Ahhh. That explains it. You enjoy mindless dribble like FF 2. never mind what I said. I'm sure you enjoyed Knocked Up and Drumline too?

Re: Movies Watched Recently
No Country For Old Men - Awesome movie. Period.
Hitman - Not in any way good, but also watchable...entertaining I guess.

Re: Movies Watched Recently
A Beautiful Mind is an awesome movie. Russell Crowe should have got the Oscar for that one.
I watched Conversations with God. True story of Neale Donald Walsch who after breaking his neck in a car accident, loses everything and ends up living broke and homeless, only to rise up from his circumstances to write a best selling book and become a famous author and speaker. I found it to be a very inspiring film. Planning to read the book now.

"Disturbia"
That movie is quite creepy. Kudos to Shia Lebeuf for another good acting job.

word.
i like him. he's funny
i watched American Gangster, but not all of it.
it was kind of boring. i'm surprised i haven't bothered to watch the rest
i usually can't watch half of a movie and not wonder what happens at the end
PS: has anyone seen that Bee movie?
i was told by my uncle that it was a great film

me too, it had really good actions scenes but the cheese at the end spoilt the movie for me. Plus his hot, steamy look was beginning to get tiring even for him to keep up, some movies need to be left in the past.
I watched Brick Lane

i loved die hard 4, i thought it was a fantastic action movie, plus i got to watch the dvd online for free, weeks before its dvd release LOL. the only reason hollywood made another sequel, is because they are getting desperate and want to make sure that they bank on thier films that they produce, so a sequel is a sure way to pack em in the theaters.

well thats the case with all movies that are based on novels i.e. novelised so to speak. But i thought it was really good. its almost as if the author jhumra lahiri, took different peoples stories of life in america and blended them into one. of course desi writers of melo-dramatic soap operas, otherwise known as 'dramas' have been doing it for decades, such as on PTV dramas. When they took the photograph of them standing at the brooklyn bridge in the late 1970's, dressed in thier big collar shirts and wild colored jackets, that could have been anyone's family album of those who first arrived here back in the 1970's, like my own folks. but i find it hard to believe that the mother would have stayed that tradition for so long, i mean 25 years in america is a very very long time, where she is walking around in her sari all the time. being hyderabadi, and half south indian, my mom wears saris, but only on special occasions lol. but to tell a story about our own community is a very interesthing thing. not that it hasnt been done before, but its only recently did my dad realize that we do have our own desi community here in america, we are not foreign guest workers who dream of retiring back to the 'old country' the way my dad always romanticized, as most people from his generation who came off the boat in the 1970's did. my dad has been here since 1974, around the time when the dad in this movie was still in india and was on that racketing old train. and he still talks and acts like he just got off the boat yesterday. still says pronounces america as 'emreeka'. lol. and still watches all those old 70's tv shows in reruns, that he first watched when he first arrived here. love boat, charlies angels, all in the family, the jeffersons, the rockford files and of course his all time fav, KOJACK! and while most families from the 70's started off the way this one did, with the dad as a student in india, goes back and marries some girl in india (or pak), in my own case my entire family moved here before i was born. and the adjustment issue that the mom went through was typical for women who came here in the 70's, in my own case, my mom had already lived here on her own in the late 60's.
and im sure the story that this family went through, may have been true for most families who arrived here first in the 70's, because the desi community was very small back then. practically everyone knew each other. but given how huge the desi community is now, were like the new irish, 100 years from now in the future, our population will be where the irish is at now.
and another point i want to take up. these people they come here, and they expect thier kids to act and behave and enjoy the same things that they did, or act like how they are. this is not india or pak, this aint gonna happen.
and one scene that stuck out the most to me, was when google, sorry gogle's wife, tells him she doesnt want to 'end up like her mother'. That sentiment is felt alot by desi girls in america, from my generation and younger. and the girl was loose, he didnt hold her past against her, till it screwed him over later on.
