Re: Movies Watched Recently
simpsons- much better than the recent seasons, not really as good as the earlier seasons. but it was funny, i enjoyed it
deliver us from evil- good documentary about a pedophile priest and his victims, how the church covered up his offenses, and other issues surrounding that issue. drags on a bit, but i liked it.
perfume- interesting movie, with a really REALLY crazy ending. i had no idea what it was about, and i never read the novel, so i was pretty surprised by how imaginative it was
shooter- good action movie. it reminded me of Commando and other classic action movies from the 1980s
the sorrow and the pity- documentary about life in a town in france during the vichy regime and the liberation. they managed to get interviews from a huge number of different perspectives, including resistance people, government officials (from both governments), british secret agents, german officers, french members of the SS, and average people.
the abandoned- sucks
amelie- good movie about a wierd french girl
Ms Evers' Boys- Movie about the Tuskegee syphilis study, which was really sad

ya that was a good movie. i just watched 300 the other day, that was a good movie, but unfortunantly full of propoganda, and not exactly historically accurate.
The Number 23 , with jim carrey was suprisingly a very good movie.

Le Grande Voyage- good movie, about a Moroccan-French teenage guy who has to drive his aged father to Makkah from France for Hajj but the kid's moody and doesn't know anything about Islam and doesn't have a great relationship with the father so it's a long ride. The sheep part was hilarious.

Wow Mossad that's quite a list! I've been meaning to watch Perfume but haven't gotten around to it yet. Sounds like an interesting movie.
I watched Miss Potter and found it utterly charming. The link is to a trailer of the movie.
It is based on the true story of Beatrix Potter, the most successful children's author of all time .. Remember The Tale of Peter Rabbit?

I found her story to be quite inspiring and engaging. The film shows her determination to write and illustrate her own stories, something unheard of in turn of the century England and her own bittersweet love story ... I won't give too much away here I especially admired her efforts at conservation through buying most of the Lakes District and giving it to the National Trust so it would never be developed. She was a remarkable woman with a remarkable gift.

City of God- great movie, really well made. Slums, poverty, gangs, little kids with guns, sounds like the same old stuff but the way it was filmed and narrated was really striking.

Re: Movies Watched Recently
I am usually a person, who watch a movie only after reading someting about it so that my precious time may not be wasted. But even then sometime I make a mistake. And such a mistake was the latest Harry Potter film No.5. It was just too serious for my taste. I wonder whether it was actually from the same director who made the preceding four films.

Perfume- the first half is excellent and really interesting and I wondered why this movie hadn't gotten more attention, but the second half drags on and the ending was silly. and too much nudity.
