Default Imam Jaysh issues an apology to sister Shadha and the mods

As-Salam Alaykum.

I was banned because I called sister Shadha a heretic. After doing some soul-searching, I realize that this was not right of me to do that. One of the mods, Bravetozero (or however you spell it), explained that I wouldn't have been banned had I said "this is heresy" or "the one who says such-and-such is guilty of heresy", instead of saying "Fulan is a heretic."

I realize that I was wrong and in error. The general principle is that we pass general statements, without making specific ones.

This is stated by Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah:
“With regard to a specific evildoer, we should not curse him, because the Prophet forbade cursing ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Himaar who used to drink wine, even though he had cursed the wine-drinkers in general; however cursing a specific person if he is an evildoer or promoter of bid’ah is a point of dispute among the scholars.”
Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen said:
The difference between cursing a specific person and cursing those who commit sin in general is that the former (cursing a specific person) is not allowed, and the latter (cursing the people who commit sin in general) is allowed. So if you see an innovator, you do not say, ‘May Allaah curse you,’ rather say, ‘May the curse of Allaah be upon those who introduce innovations,’ in general terms. The evidence for that is the fact that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed some people among the mushrikeen and followers of jaahiliyyah and said: “O Allaah, curse So and so, and So and so, and So and so,” he was told not to do that when Allaah said (interpretation of the meaning):

“Not for you (O Muhammad, but for Allaah) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zaalimoon (polytheists, disobedients and wrongdoers)”

[Quran, 3:128]

In regards to sister Shadha, my attitude should have been one of advising, cautioning, and warning her, as opposed to condemning her. When I was 18 years old myself, I flirted with the Quran-only crew, and it took me awhile to realize the error in their ways. We should differentiate between the leaders of these innovators, and the victims of these innovators.

The heretical sects are waging an aggressive war against Islam and the pure dawah, and it is our job to rescue our brothers and sisters from that. At the end of the day, I love all my brothers and sisters in Islam, and only wish the best for them, and hope that they keep themselves safe from that which can hurt them on the Day of Judgment.

If we oppose them in some matters, then we do so with a sincere intention. If they differ with us, then they differ based on their own understanding. But our mutual goal is to grab hold--as one--the Rope of Allah [swt].

May Allah [swt] keep us all safe and sound on the Siratul Mustaqeem.

End of transmission.

If you have anything to say to specific members, there's a function to PM/email them.
