Announcement from the heart of your brother
Assalamu Alaykum
Many Islamicans will remember me - I was an active member passionately attacking the Shia until a few months ago, when I suspended my account to go into a period of reflection. After a long and pain-staking research, and hours of reading, and hours on end of dialogue with scholars, and after humbly praying to Allah, I have made the inspired decision to revert to the Islam practiced by the Holy Messenger Mohammed, Shia Islam.
This announcement may come as a shock to many, especially given my history in polemics. The honest truth is, I allowed my emotions to gain control of me when it came to dealing with the Shias. Instead of looking at the schism from a balanced and rational perspective void of bias, I ensured that my position and views would consist of nothing more than diatribes and attacks, and upon hindsight based on flimsy and weak arguments.
After a long discussion with a close Sunni friend of mine, who was going through the same process of coming into the light, I decided to set aside any pre-conceived notions and start again. The companions of the Prophet became historical figures to me, just like any other, and not religious heroes I had been raised to venerate. After much reading, I realised the intellectual gap present in Sunni Islam; a gap which allowed the riff-raff type of Bin Laden to capitalise, and which allowed groups I now consider to be incorrect, such as the Salafis, to come in with deviant beliefs such as literal ta'weel of the ayahs on the Physical nature of Allah.
I bear witness there is no God but Allah, and that Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah, and that Ali is the Friend of Allah, and that he and his 11 sons are the proofs of Allah on Earth, and their mother Fatima is proof over them.
