Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 7.30 Narrated byAbdullah bin Umar

Allah's Apostle said, "Bad omen is in the women, the house and the horse." ( omen =a sign of something about to happen example : Long ago, storms were regarded as bad omens. )


Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6604 Narrated byUsamah ibn Zayd ibn Harith and Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nawfal

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: I have not left after me turmoil for the people but the harm done to men by women. (turmoil = a state of great commotion, confusion, or disturbance).

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 7.33 Narrated byUsama bin Zaid
The Prophet said, "After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women." (affliction = A condition of pain, suffering, or distress).

The first hadith is in the sahih, but there is a crucial part [in the beginning] that is missing, which can be found in other ahaadith in that very same chapter by Ibn `umar (ra) and others..

Abu-Hassan reports that two people came to Aishah and said to her that Abu Hurayrah narrates that the Prophet used to say that bad luck is to be found only in women, horses and houses. At this Aishah replied: By the God who revealed the Qur’an to the Prophet ! The Prophet never said this; what he did say was that the People of the Jahilliyyah hold this opinion.

Muhammad bin Raashid narrated to us on the authority of Makhool, it was said to 'Ayesha that Abu Huraira says: that the Messenger of Allaah said: “Pessimism is found in three things: in a house, a woman and a horse.”.. Ayesha said: Abu Huraira did not memorize this, because when he entered, the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam - was saying: May Allaah distance his mercy from the Jews; they say: “Without doubt pessimism is in a house, a woman and a horse,' so he heard the end of the hadeeth, and he never heard the beginning of it.”

And finally it is a contradiction of the following hadith

The Prophet said: “Bad omens do not exist in anything (al-yumm) but if good omens exist, then it would be in women, homes and horses"

[Ibn Qayyim, Awn al-Mabud]


People should really refrain from quoting ahaadith such as this without going into the background of the particular hadith.

Horse If Not Run In Allah Way(jihad)

House Where Allah Name Is Not Mention(zikr).

Its Only For Men.

They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution; so keep away from women in their courses and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves ye may approach them in any manner time or place ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.

They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. Say: It is an illness, so let women alone at such time and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you. Truly Allah loveth those who turn unto Him, and loveth those who have a care for cleanness.
