I have a car who's ceiling leaks water when it rains. Now the interior lining or upholstery or whatever you call it on the ceiling has been soaked many times and you can clearly see the water marks on it.

This (I think) has caused the car to smell. And I'm wondering if there is mold.

Question is, if there IS mold, is this a health hazard? No cheap car is worth keeping if it poses a health risk!

I'm not a doctor, but I know that breathing in mold will cause breathing problems. You inhale the spores and such, and I believe that the spores will actually start growing in your respiratory system.
Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.

as salaamu alaikum,

you dont need a medical background to know that if mold is bad in your house and your food, it's not good in your car either.

my answer was pretty clear too, but since you want to be catty... mold is mold. if it's present, you should get rid of it. but in this case, your roof is leaking, so fixing that is a prerequisite to cleaning the mold.

if you live somewhere that's very hot and dry like Arizona or the intermountain west, you could just leave your windows rolled down when it's hot outside so everything can dry out

No one can tell you how much risk unless they know what type of mold it is. And no one can tell what kind of mold it is without testing it. So right now, no one can help you.

What kind of peace do I mean and what kind of a peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war.... not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women -- not merely peace in our time, but peace in all time.
