I just saw this picture of my cousins two dogs and thought it was really funny:

I didn't go thru and read each post.
But I am really surprised at all the responses here saying I love dogs blah blah blah.
You don't think they are gross/disgusting/unhygenic/loud/annoying?
Wolfn, your dogs, don't look as bad though.
I feel dirty just walking into my friends apartment now that he has a dog. It has def had a negative impact on our friendship.
Like I feel uncomfortable sitting on the couch knowing that the dog probably shed and salivated (and God knows what else) all over the place. :Shudder:
And I'm not sure but dogs and/or their saliva might be considered NAJAS.
One time I went to a BBQ w my friend and I saw the dog walk up and lick the beer bottle (which was on the ground) like on the inside of the top where you drink from. My friend subsequently drank from it anyway like it was no big deal!
I toss my clothes in the laundry whenever I come back from my friends apartment.

So I decided since I cant have a doggy (breaks my heart...) and since I cant pay zakat financially right now, I decided to kindle my aching heart and to also put in some community service, I would volunteer at the animal shelter in town and take the dogs, who sit in crates all day, outside to play for an hour or so a few times a week.
And to help out more for zakat purposes, I will also put in some hours at a local soup kitchen or something similar. Its one of my Ramadan Resolutions
