it's realistic. it showed how you can take used pieces of furniture and make a place look welcoming and nice. i like the "lived in" look, things can't always look as if they're straight from a JCPenney catalog.

Well they should when they're on telly..eye candy and all that. Anyway, in houses that disgusting (and there's been worse on this show), I'd just want to knock the whole house down and start it from scratch. Or I'd sell it to a lab, I bet they can find a million new 'organisms' in it.

abcdgirl: so for all you clean freaks how long does it take for you to clean each day? I guess im normal..i mainly keep the kitchen clean (b/c it gets messy the most of course)...ill randomly do on the surface cleaning..but on mondays and fridays ill clean the entire house
my mom and mil still complain tat i dont clean enough though..and by their standards id have to be in the kitchen 10 times a day

Every day, throughout the time I am there [which is rare because I work 2 jobs and am a social butterfly]. Overhaul cleanings done once or twice a week. I think it's disgusting and shameful when people don't have a clean house and I am very uncomfortable being inside an unclean house. When my co-worker told me about her lack of cleaning, I was disgusted and couldn't hide it. Then her nonchalant 'got better things to do' attitude about it, grosssssss. Talking about how she doesn't clean the stove because, hell the food gets heated up to 400 anyway....gag. My other co-worker who was in the conversation kept looking at my reaction to everything that was being said and laughing because she has been to my house and knows how I am.

I've seen worse in real life.

I'm not a neat freak but we try to keep things clean. Untidy is better than unclean.

Now I am married the whole cleaning business is my responsibility. I do the planning, we do the cleaning together.

We clean the whole house once every two weeks that includes extensive vacuuming and dusting everything. My husband does the vacuuming and I do the dusting and I move the furniture strategically so it makes it easier to vacuum under stuff. (this takes a good 3 hours but it's worth it, i love clean)

I clean the toilet almost always daily, I just can't stop myself from cleaning the toilet, it takes no more than 10 minutes. And once a week a good clean.

The bathroom is done every week, doesn't take that long either, it's routine. If you don't leave the bathroom like a mess after a shower it's pretty easy to clean.

I'm not a neat freak, but I do clean every day just to keep up with it.

My kitchen is always clean, every time I cook dinner I will clean the oven, it does not take that long at all, maybe 10 minutes.

The thing I hate most is folding clothes. I really despise it. I do the ironing in the morning before getting dressed, I just iron what I am going to wear.

ps; my husband works 40 hours, I work 24 hours and go to school the rest of the week.

I can't stand filth and clutter. Even if you live in a mud hut you can still have a clean home. Heck, even when we go camping we keep it clean!

I will not cook if there are dirty dishes in the sink or the counters have not been wiped down and sanitized. Back when I was a single parent, my kids learned that if they wanted something other than PBJ's for dinner that they had better have cleaned up after themselves before I got home from work.

Oh, and the bathroom has to be absolutely clean. Every day. Period.

To me a dirty house is a sign of sheer laziness.

We're pretty clean.. I don't mind the 'lived in' look either, but I can't stand having a dirty kitchen or bathroom. My husband is really good about cleaning as well--- I think because his parents are SLOBS! :p

As long as the dishes are washed and the laundry is done . . .

That's about my standards for cleanliness.

My bathroom's the cleanest place, even more than my room. I have a notice hanging in my bathroom: "Cleanliness is half part of faith". I seriously get pissed if someone either comes in with dirty shoes, or doesn't tidy up the soap after handwashing.

if it's in bar form:
don't leave scum on it
don't leave little hairs on it
don't leave it in a puddle of water
don't squish it/make it into creative shapes
make sure it's left in the freakin' soapdish

if it's in a liquid dispenser:
don't leave liquid soap running down the sides of the bottle
don't get anything else on the bottle
don't leave bottle in a puddle of water
don't mess up the dispensing mechanism
don't drop the bottle (because it was likely picked to match the rest of the decor and if it's one of a kind, whoever decorated your bathroom will have a hard time finding another one. even if they won't have a hard time finding another one because it was just from pottery barn or bouclair, they will still be mad at you for putting a dent in it or whatever.)

i know all this, because one or both of my parents remind me weekly about one or the other of these things. the puddles of water on the counter piss them off like nothing else. not only is leaving a puddle of water inconsiderate, it can also ruin the counter (waterstains and whatnot). :p but i just say "you only have to concern yourself with your own bathroom" :p

By rinsing it and the container in water and flowing out excess water, and cleaning the lather which leaves white patches on the floor and wash-basin. That's how you tidy up a soap after use.

That's why Islam is the best religion, but MAY be a little difficult to follow.

Cleanliness is half part of faith. Everyone would go through all that crap once they read that, I am damn sure.

And that's why bathrooms are the dirtiest of place usually that you come across in this world, unless there's someone constantly caring for it. You live in a dorm? Probably if you lived in your home, you'd follow it to some extent atleast.

So Ive come to the realization that Im "chronically disorganized" :freak:

In other words my house IS clean, I hate dust and what not, but its been disorganized in the past, papers, pens..... Ive come to the point where Im sick of it! I feel like I need this place to be spotless

Ive tried assigning a room to a day and focusing on all the hard to reach places then BUT Im thinking I need to get rid of a lot of crap...so I woke up on a rampage today and started looking for cleaning tips...here are 2 I liked :flower:
