Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.
I really don't know how to install them though since my computer won't let me go to any website. As soon as I log on, I get all these pop ups saying I need to buy a certain software.

husband had that issue. what windows version are you on? restart your computer in safe mode and then do a system restore to a date like a week before you started having virus issues (just to be safe). then download/install your antivirus stuff and do a full, deep scan.

i use MSE and ad-aware and alh, no problems.

EDIT: to restart in safe mode, press f8 while your computer starts up again. you have to press it BEFORE you see the windows logo. if you see the windows logo, you're too late and should restart and try again.

to do a system restore on windows 7, just type in "system restore" to the area where you can search through your programs (when you click the windows icon in the lower left, the menu comes up and you can type in whatever at the bottom). for windows vista (and i think xp), i think it's programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore. then run through the wizard. be sure to check the box "show more dates" (or whatever) when searching for a restore point date.

there is a version of SuperAntiSpyware that you can download and run from a flash drive: http://www.superanti...ag=SAS_HOMEPAGE

download it to a flash drive and then get into safe mode, as farah explained (good job, farah!). then plug in the flash drive and run a full scan. restart normally after it does its thing.

you shouldnt really need it as long as you only download popular, reputable apps from the market.

My computer keeps shutting off randomly. When I turn it back on, I get this message " The AC adapter is incorrectly configured" or something like that. It takes me several tries to turn it on because it keeps shutting off before I even see the Windows logo.

did you try wiggling the power cord? maybe it's loose and not charging the computer all the way?

The computer was charging fine; the cord wasn't loose.

Here's a question for anyone with an android phone.... and I download android apps to my PC, then transfer the app to my phone with the data cable?

u can do it with blackberry and iphone..so i would assume so..that way you dont use ur data plan to download the apps..

when you got your phone did it ocme with a software? like blackberry has desktop manager, iphone has itunes..normally the software it comes with will allow you to do all of that

EDIT: after a quick google search, i dont think the droid phones can do it...but i may be wrong. ill throw this question back to people who actually use a droid lol

if your phone shows up as a USB storage device when you plug it into your computer, you should be able to just copy the .APK (android app) file to the phone (usually it will let you access the contents of the phone's memory card, if it has one). then under Settings --> Applications, you need to check the option to allow installing of non-Market apps.

hmm, that's strange. hold old is the computer? my guess is a faulty power supply. if the machine is out of warranty, you can usually buy a cheaper third-party one from amazon.

i'm seriously considering buying a mac after the hell I've gone through this computer. let's see:

1. virus woes then someone installed macafee on it (this means i got popups even though popup blocker is on)
2. slow internet (roommate doesn't have issue so it's my computer, not the internet connection) I keep getting "the connection has been reset" message when i use mozilla browser. internet is slow when i use google chrome as well.
3. screen constantly goes fuzzy every minute or so and I have to refresh it.
4. computer randomly shuts off without any warning all the time.
5. i can't connect to school's internet which is really problematic because i need it for upcoming tests (tech guy tried to fix it but said I needed to do a total system restore or something.

not sure if should bother getting it repaired or I should just get a new computer.

:(

a fresh start should be all you need to do. if you don't already have windows 7 home premium, professional, or ultimate, i would strongly recommend getting a copy of one of those (your university bookstore has them super cheap for students). win vista, win 7 starter, and win 7 home basic just arent going to cut it.

back up all your important files to an external hard drive or flash drive, then do a complete system restore (or reformat the hard drive and re-install windows for best results). the very first thing to do after that is install microsoft security essentials, and either superantispyware or malware bytes. also install *all* available windows updates. that should take care of everything, but in a few instances you may have to download some drivers from the manufacturer's support website.

it'll take you a couple of hours, but it's not too difficult and it will be completely worth it. if you decide to do it, feel free to post here or shoot me a line if you need any guidance. it's definitely better than buying a new computer. even if you end up getting a new machine eventually, you can still get some use out of this one until then. and it'll serve as a good backup machine after that. it'll definitely fix most, if not all of the issues you're having.
