Yeah oki I don't even know who you are, so anyway, I've been meaning to ask-- does anyone wear tights under short dresses/shirt-dresses?

I can do tight jeans but not tights. I just hate how it feels.

shadha-
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

with that i'd go for white skinny jeans.

My summer clothes are a lot like my winter clothes.

Around the house i wear t-shirts, if i'm visiting family, or somewhere i have to dress nicely, I have a bunch of tunics, or I wear a cotton dress.
I'm not too fussed about short sleeves, since if I need to, I can chuck a light cardi over my outfit

kelly - I get a lot of clothes from new look, republic and debenhams. they have a nice selection, you jsut need to shop around. For when I wore hijab, you'd sometimes have to be a little inventive, like on days which weren't so hot, I'd wear a long sleepve white top under a dress with short sleeves and lots of deoderant :D
Or I'd do the abaya with a tank top and jeans underneath.

Salaams,

I deleted a couple of posts in this thread that were a bit too far over the line in terms of appropriateness. Please don't make sexually suggestive comments like this. Thanks.

Any questions feel free to pm a mod.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
He said to me, "You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
She cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"
Oh, like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir,
I have tried in my way to be free.

I so need to get jilbabs made..
and wear just a vest top and like shorts or 3/4 pants underneath.(beacuse im modest/paranoid like that shadha okay?! :cake: :what: )

I wish I could find more full length sleeve boleros.

Some people try to convince me that they feel okay when they wear a long sleeve top under their short sleeve dresses, and they gasp in horror when I suggest they wear a thin cardi and ditch the top underneath.

So after ages I tried it to see what the hell they were on about. I conclude they are either stupid or pure liars. :faint:. Come onnnnn like a long sleeve top underneath is like 2 layers stuck to your body, whereas cardigans usually can have a more breathable knit, as well as you dont have to button it up at all, so at least on the front its just one layer (the dress) and on the back it'll be an extra layer thats loose and not stuck down on you.

but these days its even to hot for that :melt:

It's too windy where I live to wear a jilbab/abaya without something underneath. Even with a western dress I wear a slip and knee socks.

I don't get the layering thing either. I see tons of hijab wearing ladies here with a plain white long sleeve t-shirt under a cute top... but it just looks hot to me. Maybe I can think about it in the fall.

yeah theres that too. I wear something under skirts anyways, like leggings, but for somethign less warm I might think about shorts or those short harem pants :cake: and you can get ones with out a ginormous crotch area. Im too used to wearing trousers, I dont feel right if I'm not wearing something extra under a skirt (or jilbab I figure) :faint:

For when its breezy, or sometimes when you have skirts that ride up your legs a little, my friend wears like short leg warmer type things/footless socks, basically covering just her ankles incase they show when she's walking.

I am a new joiner here. Loved reading all the posts, especially from Shada. I must say that I am in the same boat as she is.
