I can't beleive that we don't have a thread on this topic.:what:

This thread is for computer related problems esp for those who're still technology handicapped like myself..;) Here we can assist each other in all types of computer related questions as well as a great location to learn more about your computer and its hardware and software. or

--->esp tutorial session of vari and chica for their macs':p

Ok, i'll address my problem first. a friend of mine has send me a video from her cellphone to my email account. i can't play that video with media player. she has sent the file as 'gp'

error reads:

Quote

media player can't play the file. the player may not support the codec that was used to compress this file.

thanks in advance.

i logged on to my msn after a month or so..and instantly twenty windows popped up. almost all my friends have got a link and are about to eat me ALIVE. they think ive send them that virus...even i got bashed on facebook for notorious things stupid spammers/virus senders do.

hahhahaha now i wanna delete my msn account....al though, this account has great sentimental value...ive had it since grade 9..:blobred: but the name is kinda teenypopperish too...but i still like it...im KNOWN with that msn all over the city(msa and hot aunties and friends and extended family..etc)..now i dont know what to do? delete my account/change my display name to "hi loser phriends, its the virus speaking not me" to stop all the drama "hey u send me a virus, how could you"...

thanks..

Change your accounts password. It should stop the bot from sending a virus to your friends list while logged in as you

I have to edit a PDF - without going out to buy Acrobat or something - does anyone know any easy software (that's free ;) ) that does this?

I need help. Please.

I uninstalled my MSN Messenger, downloaded it again and then downloaded MSN Plus Live. And it works.

But after I restart or shutdown my computer and start again, my messenger goes back to being Msn Messenger Live only and not MSN Messenger Plus.

[I badly want Plus]

I've given up on MSN Plus.

Anyway, now I'm faced with another dilemma. :) My laptop caught a virus recently which infected a lot of my files and then I realised the importance of backup. I would've lost quite a large amount of Islamic lectures I'd downloaded and PDF files, among other things. I tried copying those folders to my USB, but there wasn't enough space in it.

However, I'm not exactly knowledgeable to go about backing up everything. I tried searching on the Internet, and because I have Windows XP home edition, [And I don't own the Windows XP CD], it said I had to either buy something else or whatever.

Anyway, could someone explain how I should go about backing up my files? [In a nice cheap way] I did manage to save my laptop by using system restore, but I still want to be safe incase in the future my system crashes totally.

Do I need to get an empty CD? Another empty drive? Etc...

Jazakallah Khair.

how much space do you have on your computer? What i did was i got an external drive and had my computer create backups onto it weekly. A cd is okay as well, but they tend to get lost very easily. If you think you can keep track of a cd and are okay with manually backing up each time then go for it, otherwise pick up a 250 gig external drive (60$) and set up a windows task to have your computer backup whenever you'd like.

Err, how do I check how much space I have on my computer? :o

I think the 250 gig external drive thing sounds good, I'll pick it up next time I visit the computer store.

Jazakallah khair though for the help.

lol to check your space go to my computer and right click on your C drive and choose properties. It should show you how much space you have free as well as how much is being used.

They have some really expensive 250 gig drives as well so shop carefully otherwise you'll pay more than what you wanted to. I got mine on sale for like 59.99 @ bestbuy, but now it's like 90-100$.
