I have no wisdom teeth also! My dentist took an x-ray and didn't see anything. When I asked him if its bad that I don't have wisdom teeth, he said "Not having wisdom is always a bad thing." and I asked again, "No, I mean the teeth"...and got the same reply.

*shakes fist at desi dentist that doesn't answer a simple question*

Well its bad for him, because his pocket money won't grow, when he'll send you a bill for extractions of those four teeth. overall its good for you.:look: If you've a small jaw to begin with, by additional teeth in your mouth your wisdom teeth might push your other teeth and cause 'crowding' which isnt great. then its a pain in the neck, you see.:faint:

correct me, if im wrong, budmano786, displaced.

I feel like you guys should be taught something in passing. even if it is just the names of teeth.

one of my patients who's a med student didn't know his molars are called "molars."

I think that idea has fallen out of favor..that third molars push other teeth and cause crowding. crowding is just a discrepancy between the size of the teeth and the space available.

thats the explanation I received when I enquired, why is it mandatory for them to extract my wisdom teeth? or is one of the hardest to reach area to brush/floss, which in turn can contribute to caries?

third molars are hard for you to keep clean. I've found that people can barely even keep their second molars clean. you can end up with caries (in which case it's horrendous to restore) and/or periodontal disease.

Oh, I always thought that wisdom teeth were in addition to the molars, ie, 4 first molars, 4 second molars, 4 third molars, then 4 wisdom teeth. I thought I was missing third molars and wisdom teeth because I thought they were different.
Yes, 32 teeth is the normal amount counting wisdom teeth. I have only 24. :o
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
He said to me, "You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
She cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"
Oh, like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir,
I have tried in my way to be free.

my top wisdom teeth are mostly grown in and the bottom two are kinda making their way out. they bother me a little sometimes. flossing is annoying, but i do it because, well, obviously. is it really better to have them taken out?
ok look. it's not my fault that i'm awesome. thank you. and you're welcome.

every once in awhile I like to poke around the dental section in the pharmacy to see what's new.

I haven't really looked much at the whitening stuff because you get the fastest results by in-office or custom tray bleaching. but I'll look and let you know.

it might just be referred pain. if it still hurts after your cold goes away, consult your friendly dentist.

Budmano,

Is there really a big difference between invisalign and metal braces? I dont really need braces but im vain and want a perfect smile (but I dont want a metal mouth so does invisalign work just as well?)

invisalign can do a good job and in certain patients, just as good as metal braces...but in general, the orthodontist has a lot more control in moving teeth with traditional braces...maybe you should consider ceramic brackets...nowadays they can be barely noticeable
