Asalaamualaikum,

Who will be in the GMU area or be goin to George Mason University this fall?

The GMU MSA hosts iftars every monday through thursday during Ramadan, when the semester will start. There will only be 11 days of Ramadan that will fall in those days so we invite you all to come and break your fast with us! Usually we get around 150 to 200 people for each iftar!

Check out the website for more info!

GMU Muslim Students Association

If you want to donate for the iftars then that will also be greatly appreciated! The donation link is also on the website if anyone is interested.

Here is the schedule of where all the Iftars will be held!

No no, i believe you are mistaken. GMU MSA has the best iftar. Tell me, has your MSA ever had nights where you have fried chicken?...Halal friend chicken? How about Chinese or even Steak and cheese subs? Or we could go traditional and provide same desi or arab food. Haha, we hook it up, dessert included!...sometimes

For what it's worth...Rooh Afza isn't all that great, maybe with milk it's ok. Give me a Cherry Pepsi over Rooh Afza any day of the week! That's why our MSA is better, because we have proper refreshments!

Asalaamualaikum,

Good thing about being in the Northern VA area is masjid hopping! I usually hit up Mustafa Center, but yesterday decided on Dar-Al-Hijrah.

Today I shall go to Dar-Al-Noor, then Shirley Gate and then ADAMS. I have to hit up Darussalaam as well! I'll also have to check out Dar-Al-Huda only because it's right next to me, but that will be my last stop before i settle down. I'd like to hit up some more masjids in MD, but I don't know where many of them are. Only one i know for sure is Darussalaam.

Anyone know if Shaikh Adam is leading anywhere?

:faint:

If your planning on going to DUS, they arent having taraweeh at the masjid anymore, its at a hotel off of route 1 further down. Other masjids in MD to you could check out are MCC in silver spring, ICCL in laurel where sheik al raee is leading and Taqwa in Columbia where I think Hammad, who recites really well mashallah, is leading. :faint:

Ah, ok darn. Jazakallah khair. That's gonna save me some time and money. I might check them out sooner or later...depends on if I can get a firm grasp of where they are located, without a GPS.

Anyone going to Battle of the MSA's? Guest speaker is Nouman Ali Khan...

I dunno if I'm going yet or not.

Battle of the MSAs | Facebook

Date:
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Time:
5:00pm - 10:00pm
Location:
George Mason University - SUB II Ballroom
Street:
4400 University Drive
City/Town:
Fairfax, VA

Last year, the George Mason University MSA won. Who will take the title this year? There's only one way to find out...

Yes, the time has come! The 2nd Annual Battle of the MSAs is finally here! For those who don't know, Battle of the MSAs is an inter-collegiate Islamic Knowledge competition between the Maryland/DC/NoVa MSAs. The rounds will be jeopardy style, with an audience of all the participating MSAs or just anyone that wants to watch, learn and enjoy, inshaAllah.

Guest Speaker: Nouman Ali Khan!

Teams will consist of three to six people, and must be approved/arranged by your MSA (1 team per MSA). The first 16 teams to register will compete.

Registration Begins: 10/1/09
Registration Ends: 10/31/09

Prizes will not be announced, and while we can't guarantee anything like last year, rest assured, Islam encourages excellence, and we do our best to reward it.

Categories this year: Quran, Life of the Prophet (saw), Prophets, The Hereafter, Mothers of the Believers, (The Four) Rightly Guided Caliphs, Current Events, (The Four) Jurists, Traditions of the Prophet, The Ten Companions (given glad tidings), and Muslim Lands
