When Sulayman ibn AbdulMalik visited Makkah, he asked if anyone was present who met the companions of RasulAllah (saw). "Abu Hazim," they replied. "Why is it that we dislike death? Why is it we don't want to die?" Sulayman asked. Abu Hazim replied, "Because you have built and established this world and you have destroyed your Aakhirah, so you hate to go from what you have established to what you have destroyed."

I'm currently in Beirut, Lebanon (one of the most beautiful cities I've been to... maybe I'm just comparing it to Cairo). Yesterday I rented a car and drove up into the beautiful mountains of Lebanon to visit Kahlil Gibran's home city of Bacharye. It was such an incredible experience setting foot the home of one of my alltime favorite poets and checking out all his original artwork in the nearby museum. His paintings moved me in a way no artwork ever has before.

Here's his statue outside his house:

Khalil Gibran is a great poet but I find that statue totally creepy. Idolatry is not cool. :fasttalk:

Who knows maybe some people are. It certainly opens up the door to do so, when you create a statue like that, especially of someone who wrote a book called "The Prophet". I mean when I was much younger, I used to think that it was a religious book in Islam, because I didnt know any better. I bet there are people who worship Khalil Gibran in a semi idolatry way. Which is why we shouldnt put up statues in the first place. :D
