In hot places these little guys are a big help... I like to find them and put them in my room so they eat all the mosquitos.

If it's been traumatised by your cat, it may just need a few days of peace to recuperate. Pigeons I've noticed like to shelter so perhaps find a box that it can step into when it wants to rest.

You must have amazing cats if they can actually sleep together.

Do they normally do so? If you can't be sure I'd steer clear of a box that would contain the two as most cats don't like to be sleeping so close together.

Yes, cats can sleep together. If you have a group, you might even get the adorable cat stacking-sleepers.
