i wish, culturally it was acceptable for us to wear non-white dress on the day of the wedding. i'd have totally rocked desi clothes. but i'm thinking for my mehdi and walima stuff to rock one. inshaallah if time comes.

I think the perfect walk in song for a bride is "Tere Ore" but it seems like every other bride has walked in to it since that song came out. If you time it right you can reach the stage right when the guy starts singing. Another one I found is "Shukran Allah" from the movie Kurbaan which seems perfect consdering I'd be walking in right after my nikah but I'm not TOO sure about it, yet.

Or maybe I can walk into Nsync's "This I Promise You" :pout: If we did first dances I would so choose this song. :o

man, do you remember when everyone's walk in song was adnan sami's "tera chehra"? like... EVERYONE's. i still hear that song and have vietnam-like flashbacks to running around for my friends' weddings during that era :o

but HP both those songs are nice :faint: all my friends are married now, alh, so i haven't attended many weddings where the walk-in songs have been either of those...

Haha I remember that, I still love that song, though! I've had "shukran allah" on repeat for the last forty-five minutes trying to imagine myself walking to it. I think I've officially lost my mind. :faint:

wow I must be super old...I had to look for both of those songs on youtube lol. I like Tere Ore a lot, but the phrases "shukran Allah" and "walhamdulillah" sound kinda butchered/gramatically incorrect in the second song so I wasn't a fan. :pout:

I liked "Zara Sa" from Jannat when I was planning my wedding, but it's a bit too modrun for an entrance song lol. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_GZvUObmyc"]YouTube- Zara Sa - Jannat[/ame]

And lastly I hate you all b/c my husband just walked in and called me a fob when he heard these songs blasting from my laptop. He doesn't buy that someone from the internet wanted my opinion on them :o

i once saw a hijabi bride have her kameez for the gharara/sharara made so that it had a collar piece sewn onto it (the collar piece had kaam on it that matched the kaam on the rest of the outfit). then, all she had to do was to wear her dupatta pinned onto her hair and everything was hijabified. i know it sounds weird, like a turtleneck or whatever but it looked really nice. she even rocked it with matha-patti style jewelry on her forehead, (and she wore her necklaces on top of the kameez) and everyone thought she looked awesome.

idk if you're having your dress custom made or not back home, but if so, maybe you can look into having the tailor attach a piece like that to your dress? of course you'd have to get fabric matching that of the kameez and have some kaam done on it, but that's one option.

My friend did that. Her outfit was cream, it was a traditional Indian skirt and top, but just not in red. She took the dupatta, used the thick embroidered part in front on her head, and just wound the rest around her hair, like girls do in the turban style but much, much, more elegant. She looked gorgeous.

I wore a hijab with my registry outfit, and it was quite simply done.

CT, that is a gorgeous venue.

You were talking about sleeves- you're having sleeves sewed onto those dresses or are you wearing a bolero? The only Hijab issue I would see is that the dresses you posted, are totally gorgeous, but are pretty low cut. What's the 'normal' way you wear it? Wrapped around? Accessorize it. A tiarra? A broche?

i was thinking of getting them a bit customized so the neck would be higher and the sleeves would be at least 3/4 in length, inshaAllah.

i usually have a like one end of the hijab across my chest, but i dont think that will roll pretty well on the wedding...so... i think ill wrap it around and then maybe have a veil with a tierra... i am not really sure =/

I look at way too many South Asian wedding related sites ;) Mostly photographer blogs. When I search in Google I easily end up at like page 20 of each search just looking for stuff :o

PS I realized a lot of the super expensive weddings are just really gaudy. Too much going on. After looking at tons of pics and even liking some ideas/decor, I just don't find them that appealing in the end. Simplicity does have its own charm....

Bc I think I mentioned, too much color/decor clashes really badly w/ all the guests in their all their shiny clothing and sparkly jewelry.

More links for those interested.

The wedding on the following link had a tea station. Really awesome idea IMO. Desis love tea.

This is from a Mehendi. Prolly cost a CRAPLOAD. But if these are jasmines, they're my epic favorite flowers EVER. Love everything about them. Look, smell, color, etc.

More Desi platinum wedding type stages... I think a lot of them are too colorful and would clash big time w/ the outfit. Stages should be simple/neutral colors..
