I'm sick... again! Honestly, I don't know if I ever got over my second sinus infection. If so, then this could possibly be my third sinus infection in less than 4 months. I do everything - wash my hands, hand sanitize etc. Am I just a runt? Seriously? When I told one of my coworkers, she chuckled and said, "Well spring is around the corner. Wait until you catch ring worm." what? Seriously? I thought ring worm was like something prevalent in developing nations... .

it's just a fungal infection. Like athletes foot, only not on your foot. I had it once in HS right on my butt.

I have an upper respiratory infection. I was given decongestants and told NOT to fill my antibiotic prescription until I feel worse. WTH does that mean? :-/

Basically, they are trying to see if it's just a virus. They don't want you to start antibiotics for no reason because if you do that eventually you will develop a resistance... If it's a virus it should play itself out and you won't need antibiotics. If you start feeling worse, chances are its a bacterial infection, and that's when you need to start the antibiotics.

doctors, feel free to correct me on any finer points... i think i hit the gist though.
I am happy, I am relaxed. I am happy I am relaxed. I am happy I am relaxed!

the changing weather is a big reason why a lot of people get colds....that's my case i think definitely....

probably. mine is not a cold though. they're allergies.. i've been having them on and off really bad for a month as the weather goes from cold and dry to humid and warm, and back again..

i bought some veggie and fruit V8 juices, this weekend i am beginning my liquid fast. If that fails then I will resign myself to taking the nasal spray antiallergy stuff. I had a sample from the campus health center and it actually helped me a lot...too bad it's steroidal. I hate putting random meds into my body :-/

so the ganglion cyst thingy on my wrist is the size of a grapefuit now.
well, not really. half a chickpea maybe. it almost looks like i have two wrist bone bumps instead of the one that's normally there. it's okay though. unless i have to use a pair of scissors for more than 10 seconds. i should've killed it when it was still new. now it seems like it's phone-book proof. it's not going away... it's here to stay... causing utter dismay... though i must say... perhaps one day... i'll miss the way... it makes me pay... more attention to these things in life (sorry, i ran outta rhymes). everything's fine until something's not and for some reason we always choose to pay attention to the not-so-fine stuff. and now i shall take this moment to appreciate some of the finer things in life. like the sun. warmth. light. love. and life itself which kills you slowly and painfully, but oh-so-deliciously. everything that's good is so bad for you. i'm learning it the hard way. just because i tend to stop caring when it's cold. i have to start from scratch again. actually i have to start from negative scratch this time. it's worse than ever. but then again, it's never been this good either. so yeah... finer things in life. spring's on its way. i am one rollerblading lesson away from not having any rollerblading lessons at all. i don't have to go to work for a week. there are strawberries in the fridge and bananas on the kitchen counter. and i have chocolate in case of an emergency. life is fine. alhumdulillah.

ganglion cysts aren't serious although they can be painful. one method of treatment is slamming it with something to rupture the cyst. since it's a fluid filled sac, this is usually temporary because it will fill again. a doctor can also aspirate the liquid but again, that's temporary.

the other option is surgery but you have to bear in mind that these cysts have a very high recurrence rate so you may end up with another (but then again, there's a chance you won't). that's what I did - I had one in my left wrist. I had the surgery done and alhamdulillah it never came back.
