They're basically little stomachs, so I feed them anything. Heck, I've fed the bottom one lizards and stuff.

zzze, not sure about broccoli as in whether it's easy to grow or not. I've got lettuce growing at the moment :faint:

Wolfn, ever tried sticking your finger down one of those sacs? So tempting.

Yeah, I've done it before. It feels all sticky and gooey in there (the digested remains of whatever is in the stomachs)

I love gardening, although I am rookie at it. Living in a flat my gardening is limited to the balcony, on summer days, and the window frames :(

Anyhow, right now following plants are sunbathing on the balcony:
Basil
Thyme
Sunflowers (although they havent blossomed yet)
Ipomoea or White Feather (not blossomed)
Iberis Umbellata (not blossomed)
Tomatoes
Carrots
Sugar snap peas
Green beans
Coriander
Dill (difficult plant, it's really giving me a headache)

I'll try and post some pictures soon, inshallah, love this thread :what:

Asalamu Alaikum,

Woooooow your flowers are sooo pretty Moonstar. MashaAllah.

I've been growing herbs for awhile, but otherwise I can't get anything else to grow in this desert.

Fi AmanAllah
My God and my Lord; Eyes are at rest, the stars are setting. Hushed are the movements of the birds in their nests, of monsters in the sea; and You are the Just Who knows no change; the Equity that does not swerve, the Everlasting that never passes away. The doors of kings are locked now and guarded by their henchmen, but Your door is open to all who call upon You. My Lord, each loved is now alone with his beloved. And I am alone with Thee.

assalamu alaikum :faint:

my weeping willow got completely knocked over during hurricane ike, but i refused to get rid of it. my dad and dug up and cut a few roots and basically pushed it back in as much as we could. its a bit slanted now, but i dont want to get another one and wait 7 more years for it to grow. iA the roots will get firm and the tree will live.

3 of my celosias survived. the others died

for those that dont know what a weeping willow is:
Posted Image

mine is about 25 feet high. we had to cut a lotttt of the branches to stabilize it.

and celosias are the purple flowering plants in the foreground:

omg omg i updated my blog. AGAIN!

aww, I'm so sorry sheikh_speare, can't you buy a half-grown tree? Large gardens around here sell pretty big trees, I've seen some appletrees and cherry blossom trees, dunno about weeping willows tho.

do you guys have any tips on plants/vegetables that can survive outside during cold autumns/mild winters. Or some nice plants that'll grow indoors?

my problem with indoor-planting, is that often the plants don't get enough light and I'd rather not take that over my energy consumption at home.

...and the fourth question (phew, sorry  ), some of my plants have gotten dark/black spots on the leaves, any idea on what that could be?

I hope your tree lives sheikhspeare :flower: I love weeping willows, my local park has a whole bunch by a stream.

pax- any flowering plant that's a perennial will survive the winter - roses, peonies, most lilies etc etc. Not sure about veggies but thyme grows even in the winter so you can use it all year round.

the spots are probably black spot if they're on roses: Black Spot (disease - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
