The NHL Thread
Okay, I'm in the middle of a bad dream. I know that any second, I will wake up and Chris Drury and Daniel Briere will still be Sabres. And maybe no goal will actually not have counted!

Re: The NHL Thread
awww poor Blue_Phoenix! I thought of your during those first couple of days of the UFA frenzy..and then when Lowe signed Vanek to that 50 million contract! what a week it was for Sabre fans!
look at it this way.. the Sabres didnt win with them... :S so maybe they can with w/out them. you still have a pretty good team! look at all those young guys!!
Leafs signed Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala.. ohh and Mark Bell who will spend his second year with the Leafs behind bars. I say buy him out.. save some $$ and a roster spot!

They don't have to buy him out. I'm pretty sure every contract has a clause that allows you to release them without any penalty if the player is involved in illegal activities.
But JFJ won't do it because it'll make him look stupid for making the trade to begin with...although overall he did have a good off-season.

Re: The NHL Thread
At least the Blackhawks will be playing Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane this season. But why couldn't they have gone for a big-name free agent center?

Re: The NHL Thread
Because Chicago has grown accustomed to riding the bottom of the division...they wouldn't wanna mess with something good.
In all seriousness though, Jonathan Toews is the most under-rated hockey player alive. He is a franchise player you can build your team around. So here's to hoping Chicago messes up again and trades Toews to the Leafs or something

Re: The NHL Thread
I wonder if Scott Niedermayer is gonna retire. I mean, he's accomplished everything...he even did his mom a favour and won the cup for his brother.
But if he does comeback...Anaheim as an unbeliavable defence...Niedermayer, Pronger, Schneider, Beauchemin. I'd cut the 5th and 6th defencemen and just play the 4 all year long.

Yeah, I thought that was awfully nice of him after the two played against each other in the Finals a few years ago.

Re: The NHL Thread
ding ding! lets sign forsberg for 4 mil/1 year.
...though if mark bell is honest about being sober, he'll probably be re-instated before the season begins.

Re: The NHL Thread
haha. that's not it!
the new jerseys dont have the horizontal stripes on the bottom or the silver tml patch on the shoulder. and most definitely will not have TORONTO written across the top.

I really wanna get into hockey more. I mean, the Devils are probably NJ's best team. But they are moving to Newark and I kinda value my life.
