Re: The NHL Thread
No, silly. One of the players on the Detroit team is from newfoundland. So the cup will go there for a few days...

Re: The NHL Thread
Cleary became the first Newfoundlander to win the Cup... He is only second player from there to ever play in the Cup final.. this other dude did it like 50 years ago with the Wings, should be one heck of a party when he gets his day with Stanley.
say goodbye to the HNIC theme song stupid CBC!! get rid of Cherry and McLean, but keep the song!! I love the song!! It seriously is our second national anthem.. I mean who doesnt know the tune?

Re: The NHL Thread
draft day is almost as exciting as the regular season..at least the first day is..second day is pretty boring..still pretty fun to see where some locals end up.
leaf draft schenn...he was number 2 on my list, after stamkos...there was no way the leafs were getting him, so im happy with luke! sabres got a good D in myers tooo, .he is schenns teammate in the W....should be fun watching them go head to head.

Re: The NHL Thread
I was kind of hoping they'd go for Filatov, but I know why they didn't. Filatov is far more risky than Schenn and Fletcher doesn't want to take any chances with the Leafs future (which is smart I suppose).
I know he's definitely going to be an NHLer...there's no way Schenn is a bust, but its just a matter of whether he's a Vichnevski or a Scott Stevens (hell I'll settle for a Komisarek).

Re: The NHL Thread
Talk about an ironic development. Hossa was just signed by the team that beat him in the Stanley Cup Finals. This may weaken the Penguins. The Red Wings really don't want to go down. Maybe they figure on a new dynasty surrounding Hossa?
Blackhawks sign all-star defenseman Brian Campbell to counter that.

Re: The NHL Thread
Hossa is thinking Cup.. he rejected a 81million dollar long term term deal with the Oilers to sign a 1 years deal with the Wings. Cup or Bust? Pens do look a lot weaker.. not only losing Hossa, but Roberts and Malone too.
The schedule came out today! every team play each other ..unlike the last couple of years.
Hawks vs. Wings at Wrigley Field is official.

Re: The NHL Thread
Bettman really is an idiot. I liked the rivalry schedule. So, I think, did most fans.

Re: The NHL Thread
Scotty Bowman! I can't believe it! Of course he won't be coaching, but he's still putting his signature on a blank line of a legal document given to him by the team.
