Yeah was a good fight. The Dane was a tricky fighter, but Khan did well. Just methodically broke him down for 6 rounds until he was ripe for the finish, and then basically just steam-rollered him.

Frank Warren says he'd like to see Amir in one more competitive fight, but I reckon Amir's ready to take on one of the big American fighters for the World title now.

I thought Khan might have had it in the 4/5th rounds, but luckily he pulled through...thought the first few rounds were a little boring though

Nah, he's not ready, not yet. Not for a guy like Nate Campbell or a tricky, dirty fighter like Joel Casamayor. He still relies on his speed too much (leaves his hands down too often, and drops straight back).. he did look good, but he's lucky that Kristjansen couldn't punch worth a damn.

He needs a couple more fights against the upper echelons of journeymen. Too bad David Diaz (WBC champ) is already slated to fight Manny Pac, he might be the perfect guy for Khan to look good against & pick up a belt.

I suspect we'll see him in a couple fights against Jesus Chavez, Emmanuel Augustus or Jose Armando Santa Cruz. The first two are very tough fights against seasoned & experienced fighters, the second would be a good gut-check against a fellow young fighter.

After that, he'll be ready.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Warren put him in with Edner Cherry, though at this point it'd be a step backwards..

So.. Miguel Cotto beat Alfonso Gomez like a redheaded stepchild, and Antonio Margarito predictably destroyed Kermit Cintron again.

Cotto - Margarito is on. This will be an awesome fight, and the Puerto Rico-Mexico rivalry will make it huge.

Yeah you could be right. He's still really young aswell. I'm just really keen to see how he performs against the big Americans. I think he's got what it takes, but it can't hurt to have one or two more before having a go, to hone his skills.

Yep. He may not have Naseem Hamed's raw physical abilities & thus probably won't beat Naz's record for youngest British world champ (as he's expressed a desire to).. but Khan seems a lot more down to earth & dedicated, and if he's brought along right, will last much longer than Naz did.

How you retire is more important than how you start off, and a loss at this point in his career could damage his earning/star power considerably.

Yeah, you're right he's a lot more down to earth. Very down to earth actually. And he's also very methodical. He's good, and he knows he's good, and he's young, so you'd think he be prone to bravado and show boating, but he doesn't. He listens to his team really well, and his last few fights have shown that he tries to figure out the other fighter, and then take him apart bit by bit.

I think he's in for the long haul, all other things permitting, inshallah.

Rip Corrales :/

Corrales and Castillo I is probably my favorite fight of the last 10 years.

On a side note I just watched Calzaghe and Hopkins. Horrible fight. Calzaghe had ugly flailing hands and Hopkins just held onto him. Terrible.

That was one hell of a fight, to put it mildly. It was better than the first Gatti-Ward fight, imo - it was done at a higher level of skill.

Hops is too old to fight at the pace a guy like Cal-slappy sets anymore. The 2001 version of B-Hop would've smoked Calzaghe. I agree on Calzaghes style.. it may be effective, but he slaps and backhand jabs and crap like that way too much. It's not pretty to watch.
