Actually there have been cases of animals that kill other creatures for no discernable reason (food, protection, competition etc). Dolphins being amongst them.

Well in Islam we believe all animals are sinless so to our untrained eyes they may appear to kill for no apparent reason but whatever that reason is, it can't stem from evil.
That trait I'm afraid, lies with we humans alone.

You would be wrong, at least insofar as you are suggesting animals are "simple" in their behaviour. Animals are known to kill things without intending to eat them, and they are also known to fight and wrestle for "play." It is frequently how young mammals excercise and hone their hunting skills -- by playing with their siblings. You could decide that animals were a priori incapable of "having fun" and come up with different explanations for those behaviours, but I think it's pretty clear that animals share a lot of behaviours and emotions with humans, and are pretty complex in their own right.

Okay, these are worm parasites that take over a snail's brain and make it expose itself to predators so that the the infected parts can get eaten and the worms can infect new hosts.

I share the same sentiments as her. The bloody hell ???? Yuck. Ew.
The first video you posted was pretty amazing, although I was rooting for the lions. We have plenty of buffaloes to spare. :P
Octopuses gross me out with the tiny little circle things on their tentacles, yuck.

I'm just used to thinking of buffaloes (and other pack animals) as sort of scared and stupid (and, frequently, scared stupid). It was pretty ridiculous to see a couple of them run off...
and then come back with this posse that proceeded to beat the living daylights out of a pride of lions.

Anyway, I'm off to search for more cool animal standoffs.
