So I finally got a facebook page up, and a friend sent me a few pics he had of me. But every time I try to use one for a profile photo, I get an error message. What's going on?

I've only been on facebook a few times, and every single time I'm disheartened 'cause I see things I wish I had never seen. I also facebooked a guy I've fancied since primary school (you know you've all done it) and I wish I hadn't.
