Re: Facebook Thread
I hate it when people (read shady guys) try to bully you into friending them just because you're distantly related. This was my response:
We may be fellow xxxxxxxx's, but that doesn't mean I know you. I will not be giving you any further information about myself, nor will I be staying in touch. You can contact my brothers instead if you'd like, I'm sure they'd be happy to give you an explanation.
Edit: He finally understood my profile pic. Apparently that was enough to scare him off.

I added someone thinking it was a Sister... with all the Hijabi/Niqaabi pictures on, And suprisingly I usually don't accept random friend requests, but this person somehow also happened to have four of my close friends on the list so I thought I somehow knew 'her'. and next then I know i was getting paragraph large questions, and it turned out she wasn't exactly a she, but a he.
Lesson learned.

My friend's sister from our community got a rishta(marriage) request via PM from some IT FOB from India saying he wanted a "beautyful freindship"
He will be probably be making a guest appearance on "To Catch a Predator" soon...

Re: Facebook Thread
I made a Facebook at the behest of my sister, but I didn't know anyone it said I'd know. Now I'm all alone, because I was a hermit during my high school years.
Go figure.

I wonder if you can take PM rishtas seriously--like you can actually count them as rishtas b/c if so I might have a world record

Re: Facebook Thread
So how do you get rid of FB addiction? Without actually disabling your account.
[Not that I'm addicted ]

Make it so that you only visit facebook for like an hour a day at the most? Like if you go to Starbucks or something, just go on facebook there or something.
You know?

An Hour a day?
what do you facebook addicts do for so long on facebook? I just log on, check my notification and messages, and the news feed. And then I spy on my brother. But the whole process takes like 5 minutes...unless I reply to people or look at their albums, but at most 20 minutes.

Re: Facebook Thread
You mean you don't think of random people you knew like 20 years ago, then see if they have a Facebook? Wow, no wonder you finish so quickly.

How often does that happen? I found most of them. And after this "people you may know" option, I've been getting one friend request per day.

Re: Facebook Thread
nahahaha
There's this girl (ex girlfriend ) who friended me last year. After a while I thought "I don't like her (she was really mean)... I didn't like her then, I don't like her now, why do I keep having to look at her pictures?" and I defriended her
Now, months later, she's requesting to be my friend again...
should I do it? Or hit the 'refuse' button? muahaha

Dude, I've been in the library since 2:00 pm, and it's almost 6:00 pm. Here's how productive I am:
1) Log onto facebook
2) check notifications/reply to anything I have to/etc. (5-10 minutes)
3) go to Islamica and check new posts (5-10 minutes)
4) go to autoblog/leftlanenews/gminsidenews/edmunds/etc and check car news (30-45 minutes)
5) go to movie news sites (20-25 minutes)
6) go back to facebook and check notifications (5-10 minutes)
7) go to other Muslim forums and check new posts (3 forums at 15 minutes each)
8) check myspace (3 minutes)
9) back to Islamica to reply to threads I already replied to (5-10 mins)
10) check back into facebook, and maybe change my status
and this keeps repeating
