Help buying a camera

assalamualaikum

im looking to buy a camera to help me out with some design stuff, so its has to be digital SLR, i dont really need too many megapixels, but i dont know what other features i should be looking for or which brands are better.

max i want to spend is £400 (for the americans $650-$700 with out tax)

I've a few friends who shoot semi-pro and professionally and they all urge me to get this camera.

I have a Nikon D80...good camera. I'm still learning, but it takes great pictures. I think you may be able to get the body for $700ish? I have a few different types of lens and attachments so I spent a lot of money on mine. Nikon D80, do it :thumbup

i've decided to go with either the Nikon D40 on canon 400D, I cant afford anything above those and its only my first camera.

does anyone know which one has a better range of lens?

I socond (or third) the Canon EOS 400D. Lenses are the difficult part. I guess you could get a good one second hand from e-bay?

Oops.. well i was gonna suggest the Canon Rebel which might be cheaper than the EOS. I have the Rebel 10 MP SLR with a wide angle zoom lens. You can't go wrong with an 8MP version though. Anyways, when you buy an SLR its required to purchase accessories like additional lens.
