Re: Get off my connection!!
salam,
After you put on a password you should enable MAC filtering as well. All network cards have something called a MAC address which is used to identify itself to the network, think of it as a social security # if you will. Now by enabling this MAC filter, even if someone cracked your wireless password, they wouldn't be able to connect because you havent given access to their MAC address. It's very simple to setup.
1) Login to your router
2) Enable MAC filtering
2) Enter the MAC address of your computer. To figure this out go to Start->Run and type "cmd" then "ipconfig /all" and look for "Physical Address" this is your MAC address, it should be similar to xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Just copy that number into your routers config and your good to go.
Note: Keep in mind if you have a laptop, your going to see more than 1 MAC address because it is going to tell you the address for your wireless card and for your Ethernet (if you use a cat5 cable). And if you have any other computers, PSP etc that use the network don't forget to add their addresses as well.
