ok, i need ur help. I forgot the password to the main user account on my brothers notebook. how do i recovery it without losing any data?

r u using xp?

If so restart your computer and once its about to boot up tap the f8 key. If you do it right it'll show you a list of login options.
Choose bootup in safe mode. Once it boots up completely you should see a user that was hidden before called administrator. Log in as that [Hopefully it isnt password protected]. Then go to the control panel --> users ---> main account's name. Remove the password that is set or just change it to something you can remember and reboot. You should be able to log in as the main account after that.

ok... how do i log on the administrator if i dont know the password.....?

The hidden administrator should not have a password on it. If it does then you'd need to try another way. Do you know the main accounts login name?

Yea, I know the name.

Okay login to any account you have access to.

Go to the start menu -> Run
Type cmd.exe and hit enter. You should now see a black command prompt.
Type in "at 3:26pm /interactive cmd.exe" [without the quotation marks] Change 3:26pm to your current time + a minute.
Now wait a minute or until that time and another prompt screen should open up.
In the new black prompt window type "net user username password" [without the quotation marks] replace username with the login name and a password with a new password.

This should reset that accounts password unless microsoft updated a patch for this method.. Reboot and try to login to that account with the new password.
Let me know if it works.
