The new testament (or covenant) is the new agreement that God has made with all of mankind (Jews included) that Jesus came to tell about, and that we are now in a period of grace. eg. When the lawmakers took the woman caught in adultery to jesus to have her stoned, Jesus pointed out (quite truthfully I might add) that as none of them were innocent of sin, they had no right to cast stones at her. He then told the woman that her sins were forgiven and that she should repent and go and sin no more. So what we are supposed to do is ask God for forgiveness, repent of wrong doing and find someone to do some good to if I understood them right. The examples they gave me were that Jesus was known to hang around with sinners, prostitutes and drunkards etc, and that his example of forgiveness and acceptance is supposed to be followed and that we are not to make judgements but unfortunately we don't see much of that happening today.

I guess if I were to imagine Jesus being around today, he would probably be friends with these people (homosexuals) as well, but also tell them to repent. I think the question was posed to a person in the wrong religion and probably should have been addressed to a rabbi as it is from the Old Testament and they don't accept the new Testament and the teachings of Jesus.
.
I don't understand why Jesus *and* God keep being mentioned though.

Why not simply say Jesus? Or simply say God? If you're talking about one divine being, why are two 'names' used/referred to?

See this is why I will never understand Christians when they speak. Tis terribly confusing. I don't mean to sound disrespectul though.

I think they just mean God in 'Jesus form' at that time.

Skinwalker- I know that. I could get into all kinds of theological arguments about how they came to the decision that the Old Testament is totally irrelevant (and yet they still use it whenever it suits their needs) and only parts of the New Testament are relevant, but this is an Islamic forum, and I don't think anyone really cares.

Umm... you can't really pick and choose from hadiths either.
And I never saw the original video, but I dunno what gay people want with religion. Makes no sense.

I understand that, I merely asked them what the difference was between the old testament and the new, and since you were talking about Leviticus I wanted to know why they didn't follow it. After all, the argument here has been why don't they follow the whole bible and kill homosexuals according to the law in Leviticus and this was the explanation given to me and I can see their side of it. So based on that, it is easy to see that the interviewer was not really seeking an answer to the question but was trying to set this guy up. I'm sure Muslims wouldn't appreciate it if someone did the same to one of their Imams about something irrelevant to their understanding of their faith.

But I'd also like to add to your last part about this being an Islamic forum, that if people from all backgrounds and faiths are welcome here, and you are going to discuss certain aspects of their beliefs, isn't it fair to find out what they mean from their p.o.v.? After all you would want the same respect given to you and your beliefs.
