Shining Stars of the Muslim Ummah: Ash'ari/Maturidi
Bismillah.
This, and other similar threads are being created with the intention of fostering brotherhood and cultivating/facilitating healthier relations between various sects and approaches to Islam among Sunni Muslims. I also intend to promote a greater appreciation of Islamic scholarship through these threads, and Allah is the One who grants success.
I hope to post biographies (or anecdotes from the lives) of at least five scholars in each thread: two classical, two contemporary, and one from the scholars I know personally, have met, or studied under.
This thread will InshaAllah include the biographies of:
Classical Scholars:
Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali(r)
Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani(r)
Contemporary Scholars:
Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali al-Hasani an-Nadwi(r)
Shaykh Dr Wahba az-Zuhayli(h) or Shaykh Dr Ali Gomaa(h)
Scholars I've met:
Qari Mohamed Usman(h) or Mufti Muhammad Mukarram(h) (Baraelawi)
PS: I may post reviews of their works instead of their biographies. Others are free to contribute.
