the state of our ummah - things we should avoid that has become plenty in our ummah

Asalamualaikum...here are a list of (what i feel) are problems we face in our ummah...inshaAllah we can make this list grow so that we can get our priorities straight...

We forget about the last day when we will be in front of Allah.

We promote Fitna with our actions while rejecting it with our tongues.

Our actions do not contain the proper intent behind it.

Lack of adab among even blood relations

We let the poor go hungry as we ride in the a/c car to the masjid

We dishonor our women by shaming them with our tongues

We speak the words of Rasul Allah (Saw) but do not act on them

We say "None truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself" but yet we covet what others have, maybe not in materials, but in pride and other non-tangible things

We argue about maturidi and ashari but dont even know our neighbors (let alone help them)

We reject the established schools and opt for our desires

we stopped thinking about 'why' we do things which led to a stopping of doing what is more beneficial, for that which is far inferior

I read this in The Content of Character(shaykh hamza yusef): a person that makes an assumption about another person will be held in hell until he can prove that what he/she said is true. That was possibly one of the scariest things I've ever read. (it's a hadith)

We used to travel for days to months to seek 'ilm...now we make the ulema leave their families and travel for days to spoon feed it to us.

oo i should elaborate...i meant in the sense they aren't seeking ilm for the sake of Allah, but for the sake to be able to be called as a knowledgeable person, or for the sake to argue with an opponent and beat him... like the part in the hadith where it talks of the 3 ppl being thrown into the hellfire, the one was a scholar who sought ilm so that people could look high upon him.

yeah, it is! eye opener...subhan Allah, may Allah straighten our intentions

There is a sahih hadith I recently heard in a khutba that seemed to sum up our current state perfectly: the Prophet (pbuh) said: "of those who follow me, the first to be lost will be their wisdom; and the last will be their prayer." Implying that there'll come a time when people have become obsessed with ritual and meaningless matters but have completely lost the wisdom behind that which they do.
