Default Fatwa on Silk Necktie

Shaykh Salman al-Oudah said:
It is not permissible for men to wear a necktie made of silk. Silk is forbidden for men, whether worn direct on the body, around the neck, or over the head. All of these are different ways of wearing something.

As-Salam Alaykum.

Bismillah.

I've seen some scholars allowing that, but I would be too scared to wear it.

Here is an awesome place to buy HIGH QUALITY satin (non-silk) ties:

Jaan J. - The Home of Non Silk Ties | High Quality Non Silk Ties

And here are testimonials from Sunni Forum members:

Places to Buy Non-Silk Ties - sunniforum.com

You can see across the board that Jaan J ties have fulfilled the need for quality non-silk ties. May Allah [swt] reward them for this great service.

The principal of my school says that wearing ties are Haraam because the tie symbolizes the cross.

Well I've been told that one shouldn't wear a tie because of something ELSE is represents, but we don't have to get into that.

I was about to ask whats that, but i think i worked it out.

I remember a guy condemning Zakir Naik on the basis that he believes wearing neck ties are permissible. Im sure it was something like salafitalk.net a long long time ago. Crazies.

Ties don't represent the cross. There is no connection whatsoever.

Some Muslims are just lazy and all too willing to believe in conspiracy theories.

salafitalk are a bunch of crazies form Philly and have no knowledge or fiqh at all. There's nothing wrong in wearing ties as it is something customary not something that is used to differentiate a Muslim from a Kafir.

As-Salam Alaykum.

Bismillah.

Sister, this is not fair. SalafiTalk.net is considered a fringe group amongst Salafis.

If bindhis have a specific religious connotation in hindu religion/culture, which I believe they do (correct me if I'm wrong)- in that case it sounds problematic. But, if you're looking for a legal verdict ask an 'aalim.

I've never seen Muslim girls wear bindhis! Are you sure you are not talking about tikhas?

And some tikhas look hot!

No, some people wear the hindu dot type things. Which might not necessarily be a dot, but the same type of thing.

Anyway, Salafitalk are pretty crazy, they've pretty much badmouthed every group/imam etc on the earth, lol, even the local imam where I live. Thats an achievement. Not one to be proud of, but still its an achievement.

We should count up all their threads and see what percentage of them are refutations of persons/groups and "is so-and-so a Salafee" and "what is the manhaj of so-and-so?"
