Humm I don't even think if this issue matters to me, because I tend not to "Salaam" too much be it males or females. Although it has put me some awkward positions.

Anyway I usually don't initiate salaams to sisters, but I do respond to salaams though.

you can so tell a haraam salaam from a halaal salaam as well.

"Asalaaaaaam 'Alaykum!! : pantpant:" gets no reply other than a stern stare.

"Asalaam 'Alaykum" gets a wasalam and a smile

Ya it is a forum. But they quote, in full text, a sunnipath fatwa. You have to scroll down a bit.

Just fyi though, the scholar writing the fatwa is Hanafi quoting the Shafi madhhab.

Good in theory except it would've been masked by their own pungent odour .
