Default Neck Ties

Anybody know where I can get non-silk neck ties? Most of the ties I have seen are either 100% silk, or partially made of silk.

Do you still object if its artificial silk?

Disclaimer: Personally I follow the opinion that if the silk isn't touching your skin, then its allowed.

I think partially silk ties are allowed. However, I'm not sure.

I would have to ask about its permissibility, but is there a site that sells artificial silk ties? Jazak Allah khair.

Ties are Haram because they are imitating the KAFIRS.

Not trying to be confrontational, but what are the limits to imitating the kuffar? You say neckties are haraam because they imitate the kuffar, but what about things like blue jeans? Or sneakers? Or baseball caps?

These were all invented and worn by the kuffar, but all Muslims wear them.

So my questions is where do we draw the limits?

Oh, okay.

Well, on another forum, they say that stuff like neck-ties are haraam, so I wasn't sure.

Some Muslims say that because there's an urban legend out there floating around, saying that ties signify the cross, and therefore are "haraam" to wear.

But if you look into the history of ties and how they evolved and where they came from, they have no link to the cross whatsoever.

I would love to get a clear answer on this considering I have to wear a tie to work everyday.

One of the local scholars in the Toronto area, Imam Nafees of Coopers Masjid. I can go back to him and ask him for the textual sources of his opinion if you want.

Although you could go get non-silk ties - there's plenty out there.

See, I don't get it either. If it's reported that men aren't suppose to wear silk, how then can you wear a silk tie? Just because it's not touching your skin? Then in that case, it turns into you can't wear silk clothing that touches you but you can wear it on top of other non-silk clothes.

Right. That makes sense.
