The Angel
By: Marya Khan
He’ll be there before you know it
What are you waiting for?
One day, when you expect the least, you’ll turn around
Malik-ul-Maut will be at your door
No time to run, nowhere to go
You’ll be condemned to your fate
No time to pray, no time to repent
You’ve waited till too late
So what are you doing, where is your Imaan?
How far is this world pulling you from your Lord?
Songs, movies, celebrities you’ve got in your head,
But how many good deeds have you stored?
Are you ready to leave your soul? Ready to take your last breath?
Are you ready for Malik-ul-Maut? Are you ready for the Angel of Death?
You’ve looked at other misguided Muslims and said
“Whatever happened to them?”
But are you sure you’re ready yourself,
To be face-to-face with Him?
You’re so busy living your life
Before you know it you’ll be through
You’re giving little thought to Allah’s wishes
Do you want him to do that to you?
Universities, school, music, movies
Seems like those worries are in your head to stay
Did it ever occur to you, in the midst of all this,
That you might not live to see the end of today?
Are you ready to leave your soul? Ready to take your last breath?
Are you ready for Malik-ul-Maut? Are you ready for the Angel of Death?
When was the last time you made a real dua,
For suffering other than your own?
When was the last time you prayed a sincere Salah,
With all your thoughts on Allah alone?
When your time is over death will find you
There is no escaping your grave
3 feet under dirt, stripped from your luxuries,
Your deeds are all you will save
Think back, O dear Muslim
Reflect on what you’ve done
Are you ready to meet Allah?
Because from Him, no one can run.
Are you ready to leave your soul? Ready to take your last breath?
Are you ready for Malik-ul-Maut? Are you ready for the Angel of Death?
