In regards to suicide bombing, the issue can be divided into two:
1. Suicide bombing against non-combatants.
2. Suicide bombing against armed combatants.
In regards to the first (i.e. against non-combatants), there is consensus amongst all that this is most definitely haram (forbidden), since hurting a civilian is not permissible in Islam.
In regards to the second (i.e. against armed combatants), there are two views amongst scholars, but the stronger opinion is that it is forbidden, as it is a form of suicide. This was the view of Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen.

I disagree. The motivating factors for suicide bombers differs dramatically from what motivates other people to commit suicide by other means, such as hanging, poisoning, etc.

I disagree with this view too. It is not 72 virgins which motivates people to do this heinous act.

I disagree wit this view as well. I know both you and Jinnz are just joking, but just to make it clear. These two reasons are NOT why people do it.

I disagree. I used to think this too, before I read the ground-breaking book by Gallup, which is entitled "Who Speaks for Islam?" Gallup conducted the largest ever poll of Muslims, and looked into the reasons that cause people to become radicalized. What they found was that it had nothing to do with poverty or being uneducated. Instead, they found that those Muslims who became radicalized did not necessarily come from poor or uneducated backgrounds. Rather, it has more to do with closely following politics and being frustrated with what they perceive as Western imperialism.
