They're allowed, sure, but why would they when they have a whole bunch of their own languages to speak? Islam doesn't have to mean Arabization.

Can we say "self-hating desi"?
Seriously, culture isn't haraam. There's no need to become Arab.

lol, so any desi (oops am I self-hating now?) speaking arabic is 'self-hating'? that's ridiculous. And did you say 'haraam'? Don't you mean prohibited?

1. If you value it above Urdu/Punjabi/Hindko/Seraiki/Tamil/what-have-you because you think it's superior to use it somehow in everyday terms, then yes, it shows some disdain for your own culture. You're Arab, no?

2. What's the difference?

assalamu alaykum

1.I'm half arab. What does distain have to do with anything, can't it just be a preference? It makes more sense to say 'desi' than 'asian' on this forum.

2.Exactly.He said sidi ''sounds better'' than bhai.

What's with these boxes?? An individual can't develop a love of anything other than his ''own'' without being judged? I have too many objections to your statement. What's with these divides?! Subhan Allah, I didn't know our parent's culture (or language) defines us and dictates what we can/cannot do/say.

sidi= a respectful way of saying 'brother'. can mean something like 'sir'. equivalent in Urdu might be 'sahab', punjabi 'saab'.

You sound like a self-hating Muslim. Or a member of the BJP.

Arabic is the language of the Qur'an and hadiths. Every Muslim should do their best to learn it.

Besides which, North Indian/Pakistani languages are heavily influenced by Arabic (and Farsi) anyway.

Sidi, I think is more of a short form of sayyidi, my master. Used mostly as a honorific.
