the shaykh/maulana who addressed the question might be someone extremely knowledgeable and calling the answer retarded is kind of disrespectful

But mashAllah you have a very valid point about da'leel

sorry about not providing it earlier, I vaguely remembered it and I just had to find it (this is one of the few websites I trust): Islam Question and Answer - When a pregnant woman feels contractions, should she stop praying, and does she have to makeup the missed prayers?

Perhaps it's my limited imagination but a woman giving birth and a even a small portion of a child sticking out (?) it is Fard to pray. That's giving birth right there.

As for people who say childbirth isn't hard:

And May Allah (swt) forgive me if I thought I understood through ignorance and not true understandings from these readings.
Salaams,

That was a very good post explaining your position. Thank you.

As to your last part, yes giving birth is difficult, but consider also that Maryam (ra) was alone without any help, and young. It compounds the experience, and makes it quite frightening. The pain of childbirth is incomparable to anything that comes before, so imagine going through it under those circumstances. But an uncomplicated birth by itself will not necessarily inhibit one from a modified prayer, please refer to my previous posts.

I don't think she was commenting on the person but rather the answer as to "what kind of people live in this world" it could mean the questioner but perhaps she also meant some 'people of knowledge' and the fallibilities of humans--which makes it valid too. I really think you're nit-picking esp when the reputation of anyone isn't at hand and no one in general is mentioned. There's a lot of "mights" in the world. I know a man who had been molested by an imam--you didn't include that in your "might". And for the record, knowledge doesn't make anyone innately good. It's their words, deeds, actions--in which in this case we were judging on words. Thanks

Now on to funny questions:

"Is Allah contained by the Kaaba?" hahaha astagfirullah.

"Do you take a shower with you're scarf on?"

i'm not nitpicking; i'd like to think certain people on this forum wouldnt take a reminder such as the one i posted personally. i think jelly would be pretty mature in that sense. i know i always appreciate being corrected if i'm at fault. anyway sincerely no offense to jelly if i sounded harsh

and what does an imam molesting someone have to do with somebody as you said we dont know much about? i dont get it. the person may very well be pious (we should assume the best) and in that case what was said can be seen as disrespectful.

as for someone being good or not, let's not judge that far. i like to think people just dont randomly decide to 'waste' their lives studying deen and invest so much time in something that doesn't even 'pay' well - time they could've spent on other things.

i'm not trying to pick a fight or argue out of boredom, honestly. it just bothers me when someone who is knowledgeable is spoken of in that manner and i tend to take it personally.

nobody specific was mentioned and for all we know trent could have just made it up! It was still pretty funny though... a threesome would be haraam so asking in the first place is retarded and the response had NOTHING to do with the question and that's why it was retarded too.

I think this thread is good for making light of some of the useless and dumb questions people ask that can otherwise be solved by use of common sense. Just visit askimam.com...I dont know why the scholars even waste their time with some of the questions .

my #1 favorite is when someone asked the following question on Sunnipath: 'girls in MSA are so stupid, can we kill them?'

The answer given by the "maulana" was not retarded in the slightest. He answered in the negative to the person's question and then outlined why it was impermissible. He imparted two pieces of knowledge.

The scholars and other people of knowledge have to be open to any and all questions, as ridiculous as they may seem, because some people have strange queries. If the scholar laughs at everyone's questions because they sound ridiculous to him, people will be reluctant to ask questions.

All of us were beginners once. We don't know what kind of background someone may have had, or why they are curious about a certain topic. When people start learning about a new subject, if other people who know more than them start laughing at them and their questions, they are the retarded ones not the questioner.

In this instance, the repeat question was stupid, not the initial question, and certainly not the maulana's answer.

no, there's no ikhtilaaf on that. ikhtilaaf would be on whether you can kill them for being stupid.

gotcha. well, alhamdulillah i've nothing to get riled up about since i'm a woman.

btw jamroll that's a good point. you know some people actually asked Shaykh Faraz why he even bothered answering the girls are stupid question.

His response:

Why did you post the "Girls in MSA are so stupid" question?*

LOL that was a hilarious question answered on sunni-path. I remember reading it when it was posted years ago.

The guy who emailed that question was probably really pissed off at the females in his MSA and Sunnipath considered his rant worthy enough to be published..

Sadly sometimes I feel like asking that too.......

Jamroll: ummm it wouldnt be haraam because you're treating them unequally, it would be haraam because the act is between TWO people not three....for reasons like the women arent married (it would be against islam for them to be anyway) and "threesomes" would require some kind of nudity between ppl who arent allowed to see each other unclothed...which would be ummm, haraam. duh. i dont see how "treating them fairly" has anything to do with it

anyway all you stick-in-the-muds are taking us off topic. Take your bickering elsewhere please.

-----

I read a question once where someone asked if drinking a personal care product with alcohol in it is still haraam (like nail polish remover or something)....another time i read a question asking something like "if I have committed a sin, if I repent and throw myself down onto the floor will Allah forgive me?" and the poor scholar was like, "sincere repentance is enough, self humiliation and abuse is not allowed"
