I feel bad because I almost left
Salaams everybody
I have this really bad feeling in my stomach and it is like I am carrying a huge burden on my shoulders, and I suffer from a guilty conscience, because a few months ago I was one hurdle away from leaving Sunni Islam and becoming a Shia (I was influenced by websites such as answering-ansar.org al-islam.org shiachat.com imamsadeq.com) Hamdulillah I decided to stick due to a meeting I had with a scholar but I still feel ashamed.
No one knows of my experience except a close friend. What shall I do?

Wa alaikum assalam
If you feel bad for the mistake you almost made, then perhaps you can devote your energies to helping others that are in the same situation as you.

Re: I feel bad because I almost left
Life tests u in many ways and things happen which make us realise how fragile we are as people.
U have two choices, either to continue to feel bad about yr humble human mistakes
or
u can thank Allah for keeping u in the light of His Mercy and continue to strive harder to please Him
U no the story of the man who killed 99 people in an attempt to find out the truth?? Allah forgave him even after those murders, Allah is all Merciful have faith and trust in that and u will see life thru.
Lastly, a quote from Khalil Gibran which i hope gives u some peace...
Doubt is an emotion to lonely to realise faith is his twin brother
Hope that helps

Re: I feel bad because I almost left
If you were sincere in thinking that something was the truth and you felt compelled towards it, then don't be ashamed. The heart is compelled one way and then the other throughout one's life, especially if you are sincere, and this creates a struggle to determine what the truth is. Conviction to the truth only emerges at the end of that struggle.
It's better that you went to the other side and then came back, because now your conviction to your beliefs is not that of the indoctrinated and the blind-followers, but that of someone who has realized the truth and decided for himself what to believe.

That is such an oxymoron name for a website. I mean who rebukes the Ansar? The very people who shielded and took in Rasuallah(S) from his blood relatives who wanted to kill him consisting of Abu Jahil, Abu Lahab and Abdullah Ibn Ubay

Don't feel ashamed, Allah loves you, and if you sincerely ask Him to guide you, He will guide you.
