You can do a good deed and intend for the reward to go to another person. You will get the reward and so will the person you intend to do the deed for, inshaAllah. It's best to do this for your parents.

The things that benefit the dead are:
* Dua for that person
* Sadaqa Jariah ( which is putting money for building a mosque, a quoranic school etc which will still gain them good deeds while muslims are benefiting from it)
* But remember that a person does not enter Heaven EXCEPT by Allah's mercy and his will, not just by his deeds in this life, so It is up to Allah where a person lands.
