Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
"O Light of Guidance calling to meet
Him whose beauty fills us with awe
And to him we hasten to greet;
O bless him, praise him, ya Allah!
Salutations be upon him
Whose majesty fills us with awe,
Ecstasy fills every limb;
O bless him, praise him, ya Allah!
He is the bearer of Kindness,
Mercy manifest without flaw,
And his heart is of pure noblesse;
O bless him, praise him, ya Allah!
O Mercy to Heaven and Earth,
Greatest blessing we ever saw,
He showed what Truth and Faith was worth;
O bless him, praise him, ya Allah!
O honoured one chosen for praise,
Sea of purity and pure awe
To praise you sets our hearts ablaze;
O bless him, praise him, ya Allah!"

(Allahumma salli alaa sayyidina muhammadinin nabiyyil ummiyyi wa-ala aalihi wasallim tasleema)
O Allah bless our master Muhammad, the 'ummi' Prophet, and his family and grant them the best of peace.

Abu Hurairah Radiallahu anhu reports that the Holy Prophet said,
“Whoever recites the following Durood eighty times immediately after Asr Salaat on Friday, before standing up from his place, Allah will forgive eighty years of sins and grant him the reward equivalent to eighty years of worship.”
Salat-Salam

Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
"People, here is an illustration, so listen carefully: those you call on beside Allah could not, even if they combined all their forces, create a fly, and if a fly took something away from them, they would not be able to retrieve it. How feeble is the seeker and the sought! They do not measure Allah with His true measure - Allah is most strong and mighty." (Qur'an 22 : 73-74)

Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
"You (O Lord!) are the sustainer of both worlds
and I am the poorest of the poor,
So accept my excuses on the Day of Judgement.
And if you are to take account of me,
Then hide it from the sight of the Chosen One (sallAllahu alaihi wasallam)"
-- allama iqbal
I remember hearing this in urdu once as a crowd of people broke into tears.
I pray that my sins are kept hidden from those who i claim to love on the day of reckoning.
Allahumma salle `ala muhammed wa aale muhammed.

Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
The companions love/respect for rasulAllah (sallAllahu alaihi wasallam)
Urwa returned to his people and said, "O people! By Allah, I have been to the kings and to Caesar, Khosrau and An-Najashi, yet I have never seen any of them respected by his courtiers as much as Muhammad is respected by his companions. By Allah, if he spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet's companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them, they would carry out his order immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect."
(Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 50, Number 891)
Narrated Ibn Sirrn: I said to 'Ablda, "I have some of the hair of the Prophet which I got from Anas or from his family." 'Abida replied. "No doubt if I had a single hair of that it would have been dearer to me than the whole world and whatever is in it."
(Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 171)
