Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
I find this rendition of the Burdah to be particularly good:
YouTube - Qasida Burda Sharif
Excellent thread by the way.
And to the haters, how is praising the Prophet [s] shirk?

Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
YouTube - Mohammed Rafi - 025 - Ya Nabi Salam Alaika
Actual "Yaa Nabi Salaam Alaika" starts a few minutes in, but the prelude is nice too

Re: The "Praising the Beloved (saw)" thread
Someone asked Hakim al Ummah Maulana wa Sayyidina Ashraf `Ali Thanawi (May Allah be well-pleased with him):
Quote:
|
“The case is that whenever the name of the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) is uttered in front of this lowly one his body experiences a burning excitement and the durud automatically comes onto the tongue and stays there for quiet some time. Sometimes the condition exists that even if, God forbid, I do not have the resolve to recite the durud I have no power over it (s: meaning that I cannot stop it and I utter it regardless). However, when Allah’s name is uttered I cannot feel this. Is this trangession and a violation of the religion? If it is what is the cure?”
|
Hakim al Ummah replied:
Quote:
|
“In this, the natural ruptures and feelings (of people) are different. Some appear to experience overwhelming love of Al Haq (s: meaning Allah) while others appear to experience overwhelming love of the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace). Since both types of love are necessary then both feelings are accepted and admired… Do not become perplexed, nor is this trangession, and nor does it require a cure. It is a blessed state and when such a state overwhelms then follow it…”
