Are Easter Eggs Haram?
I was just reading through the chocolate thread, while at the same time enjoying a couple of Caramilk and cream egg Easter eggs, when I wondered about their permissibility. Even if they contain no haram products, they'd still be linked to a very un-Islamic tradition... so do you think they are haram or not?

Re: Are Easter Eggs Haram?
Yeh, I've never even thought about that... there's so much pagan and Christian candy out there.

I have no doubt that you'll find plenty of people who will think they ARE haraam, and also find any number of people who say: "Dude, it's just chocolate. Pass the diabet-- I mean, candy, over here."

Re: Are Easter Eggs Haram?
Its just chocolate and candies.
You can eat it so as long as you're not intentionally and actively celebrating Easter.

I hope not my Mum is sending me a bunch of English chocolate Eggs...
There are many Scholars that state that accepting gifts on a Kaafir holiday is fine as long as you aren't actively celebrating it.

Eating easter eggs is just eating chocolate. Chocolate is not haram (unless it contains haram ingredients). It's the active participation in giving out Easter eggs and celebrating/observing non-Muslim festivals that is not permissible.

Re: Are Easter Eggs Haram?
Eggs are not haram (unless you went on an easter egg hunt, and then to church and that's where you got them, as opposed to recieving them from neigbors), but can give you gas, and if they aren't cooked properly, can make you quite ill as well.

Re: Are Easter Eggs Haram?
When you guys think of easter eggs, are you thinking of those little chocolate eggs, or hardboiled eggs whose shells have been dyed? 'Cuz I was thinking of the hard boiled ones.
