Muslim unity on common issues.
Israel threatens to unleash 'holocaust' in Gaza
Israel threatens to unleash 'holocaust' in Gaza - Times Online
Quote:
An Israeli minister gave warning today that the army may unleash a “holocaust” on the Gaza Strip if Islamists there do not end their daily barrages of home-made Qassam rockets and their increasing use of Iranian-built Grad missiles.
"The more Qassam fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, they will bring upon themselves a bigger holocaust because we will use all our might to defend ourselves," Matan Vilnai, the Deputy Defence Minister said.

Earlier We were discussing about the Shia-Sunni Unity on Common Grounds.
The common grounds are:-
1. Protecting Al Quds
2. Confronting the common enemy.
3. Protecting our people from Massacre
4. Supplying them means to defend themselves
After reading the link what do you think?
Should we not call for unity and co-operation?

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
Oh, the irony in an Israeli minister wanting to unleash a holocaust.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
See, the problem is that we've hated Israel for only 60 years or so. Sunni's and Shia have hated eachother for centuries. I don't see that they are going to resolve even the smallest of those differences, even for their own protection, perhaps ever. Seems to me that they would rather let non-Muslim use the divide to rule over them, and kill them, than to admit there could be comonalities between the groups, and reduce the animosity even a little.
That's my conclusion based on every single Sunni-Shia flame war I've seen on Islamica.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
Echoing Chotoo's post, its kinda lame to decide to "unite" upon the mutual dislike of a "common" enemy when in fact the differences are much, much deeper.
You don't half slice off someone's arm and then try to patch it up with one or two tabs of scotch tape.
If you want to come back into the fold, then do so on the basis of proper Islam - i.e. Quran and Sunnah.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
Well, I don't want to fool people as our shia friends do when they are weaker or in minority e.g here on Islamica, they talk about unity on sunni forums and on shia forums they spill their hatred against us, sorry I don't fancy hypocricy.
I might make peace with Jews than to trust shias who always have stabbed at the back of Ummah. Jews are open Kuffar, they don't do taqiyyah, that's why Prophet Muhammad s.a.w made peace with them. Shias can never be our friends because they have never been that in the history, they have only destroyed the unity of this Ummah.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
At one point I used to think Shia Sunni unity is possible, and it probably even is since so many of them don't know the ABC of their history and therefore don't know who the heck Muawiyah was/is and what he did nor do they care. But those that know what their crimes were and yet they are Muawiyah and Yazeed lovers. . . unity with them? LOL ya right.
Ali Fazel, Iran and Hizbullah do these Sunni Palestinians a favour by helping them out, they can't even help themselves, the Ahlul Sunnah ummah is sleeping and their puppet leaders are prostrating down to thier US and Israeli masters. One friend told me Al Qaeda helps Palestinians, I cracked up laughing on his face LOL. You really think Al-Qaeda is going to help the Palestininas, they are funded by Aal-e-Saud and the US nothing but a joke.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
I think a unity of sorts is possible. People unite under common causes, and there's no reason why Sunnis and Shias can't do the same. Granted, there is a certain level of mistrust on both sides, but this can be overcome if certain groundrules are established. There are certain projects or causes, or vested interests both Sunni and Shia have, and even its for a limited time only, they should work together on these things.
Basically, when coming together to work on these causes or projects, certain things should be overlooked. For example, Sunnis find it hurtful when Shias are constantly criticising or, even more heartbreaking, cursing Sahaba. Shias should refrain from doing so in front of the Sunnis, or perhaps even talking about Sahabas to avoid any flaring up of emotions.
Likewise, the Sunnis should stop criticising practices of the Shias in their beliefs and worship, and allow them the freedom to worship and have their beliefs without screaming bidah and haram down their necks.
Even enemies can come together, if they out aside their differences and come together on common terms, so why not Sunni and Shia, I say.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
This Ummah will never unite upon FALSEHOOD, it's been tried before, and we see it being tried again today, it's not gonna happen. Allah wants the people to come together upon the truth, and we're commanded by Allah to enjoin the good and forbid the evil. How can we remain silent if see our brothers in sin, or upon innovation, or upon shirk?
May Allah guide us to that which is correct. Ameen.

Go buy some rosemary beads and recite:
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
Muawiyyah Yazeed Muawiyyah Yazeed Yazeed
That is all your religion is about apparently, since that is the only topic you ever talk about.
We call towards Absolute Tawheed , whereas all you call to is laanat of Muawiyyah and Yazeed.

I appreciate your sincerity in this issue and do agree with you to some extent but the question is we don't consider shias to be part of Ummah, we can't consider them Muslims while they believe in the extension of Prophethood after Muhammad s.a.w, remember Abu Bakr Siddiq r.a fought such followers of Musaylma Kaddab till they believed in the Prophethood of Muhammad s.a.w. I personally consider them (shias) the worst enemies of Islam who have been corroding the roots of Ummah under our noses. There's only one way we can make peace with them; they should stop dreaming for the greater Shia state extending from Iran to Lebanon and stop fooling the world that they can unite with us. We don't have any problems with Aga Khanis or Bohras and other peaceful sects of shias, but Ithna Ashris, no way, they are horrible.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
This is, sadly, a very stale topic. The simple fact of the matter is this: "unity" between the two communities as a whole is not possible because there are enough people on ALL sides who do not desire it.
That said, people are inherently xenophobic. We can only envision "unity" so long as there remains an "other" to define ourselves against. If there were no shias for sunnis to hate, I have no doubt that the already-existing divisions between various groups of sunnis would become much more "signficant" and highly emphasized in the public mind. When all is said and done, as collective communities we HAVE decided that the most important and defining characteristics of ourselves and our relations with one another revolve around historical figures in Islam and particular details of belief rather than acceptance of the Qur'an and the Prophet of God as our leader and our example. We've chosen that, and we'll all live with the consequences for as long as we continue to make that choice.
For myself, I think the lie is put to the idea that shias and sunnis can't even CHOOSE to share Islam between them by the mere fact of the numerous close and friendly relationships that exist between an uncountable number of shias and sunnis.

Re: Muslim unity on common issues.
Way to go Sunnis:
003.028
YUSUFALI: Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
004.144
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! Take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: Do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?
005.051
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
IbnAbdullah: When was abubakr added to the kalimah shahadah?
Salahudeen: If those are your gods, enjoy yourself. Shias make tasvih to Allah.
Jamroll: Thanks
Rest of you: Its not Shias dying in palestine, its more than 95% Sunnis. If you watch the news, the only people who give a damn about Palestine and are willing to back it up are Iran and Hizbullah. Stop being snippes and realize that.
Shias are the non Muslims? You ass clowns would rather watch your own brothers and sisters die in the streets than unite with the only sect that exercises Haqq with both their tongues and their hands.
What are your countries doing? Giving money for Palestinians to suicide themselves and hopefully take a Jew or two with em? They're paying Palestinians to kill themselves? WTF is that?
Whatever snip called us the worst enemies of Islam - I pray to Allah that he burns in Hell forever and ever and with the some of the most terrible of penalties ever. You people are so disgusting. 80 Sunnis died in the last 2 days in Palestine and Shias are the problem? Shias are the enemy? Goto hell any of you who talk like that. To the hell fire eternally inshallah.
What you need to realize is that we dont give one about your precious sahaba. we dont care at all. we dont spend our time on them. any goddamn fantasy that you have in your head otherwise is just some sadisitic masochist otherwise. we dont waste our lives cursing them becuase we dont care. you just cant stop talking about how much we curse them to get it in your head that we dont do all this crazy you have in your heads. it is you that is the sect of hatred - not us.

Sadly, it's not that simple as you say, it's not merely acceptance of Quran and the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, it's accepting the Quran is not complete and the continual of Prophethood after Muhammad s.a.w in the name of infallible Imams.
Sorry we can't get united with Non-Muslims simply because you want that.

We can't unite with those who join kuffar against us, as they did in Afganistan and Iraq and elsewhere.

Do we spend the whole year cursing Muawiya and Yazid and the Caliphs of Islam in the name of hatred?
Well, I suggest liars be born again and confess their crimes.
